Today, my 5-year-old nephew had the most amazing idea: to play a game with my keys. He took out all ten keys individually and hid them around the house. So far it's been two hours and I haven't found a single one. FML

Autumn: Leaves and Laughter
When the leaves fall, the laughter rises. Discover autumn stories as crisp as dried leaves!
Same thing different taste
It's always in the most obvious place
Today, my toddler thought it would be funny to hide my car keys. After searching for hours, I found them in his toy box. FML
Today, my nine-year-old niece found my coloring book that features swear words. I took it away and hid it in a different spot. No less than an hour later, her younger sister found it. FML
Today, I was babysitting my niece when we decided to play hide and seek. I went in the shed, and waited. After waiting a while, I went to go back inside to see what was happening. I saw my niece had locked all the doors and was eating cookies on the kitchen bench. FML
Today, I finally got my hands on a Nintendo Switch. While unboxing it, I left the room to get a pair of scissors. When I came back, most of the box contents were missing and my little brother was standing there. It has been about 5 hours and I still haven't been able to find anything. FML
Today, I started a new job. I lost my work keys and had everyone running all over the building looking for them. We found them, hanging in the last lock I had used. They now all think I'm a nut. FML
Today, while babysitting I decided to play with a children's puzzle to pass the time. Fifteen minutes in I gave up. The kid then came over and put it together in less than five. There were only ten pieces. FML
Today, my cousin thought it would be funny to make copies of my house keys and give it to random people on the street. I live alone and work a 12 hour shift daily. FML
The wrong sort of lock in
Today, I gave my 10-month-old the house keys to keep her busy. I locked the burglar gate and left the door open. She can walk, and she threw the keys outside the gate. FML
Today, my 5-year-old son put my car keys in the microwave thinking that they would 'warm up' my car. FML
Today, my six-year-old daughter organized a treasure hunt… for our cat. She hid the contents of an entire bag of cat food all around the house. FML

I see him saying, "Let's play a game," to people in the future.

Like when I was six, I hid my dad's wallet in the toaster slot... Let's hope OP's nephew ain't as stupid as I am! Or as smart... I really don't know which one it was.

Yes they do have the craziest and best spots! But they always know right where they put it when you ask. At least, that has been my experience. Hope you find your keys OP!

Ask your nephew where he hid them. If he doesn't tell you say he can never have candy or treats ever again. Or Santa doesn't give gifts to kids who hid others stuff.

Fight fire with fire. Hire the next door neighbor's kid to find them.

congradulations...........a 5 year old is smarter than you
Saone_fml 27
He doesn't have to be smarter, just sneakier, and since he's small theres so many places he could access to hide stuff, the back of a cupboard, under furniture...inside furniture, theres so many horrible places to hide stuff if you really want to. Also keys are small so, say its in a bunch of clothes, wrapped up, if OP just picks it up without shaking, it won't be found.

Wow. I never realesed that one's ability to play hide and seek directly correlated with how smart they are. Why don't they just play hide n seek instead of having university exams?
I_iz_B_a_troll 23
I thought he was smart just because he could undo a keychain, that's gotta be a pretty complex brain teaser to a five year old.

*Congratulations You should just use "congrats" next time

You've just got to love hide & seek. But why leave your keys out? YDI

Also, why didn't he just tell the kid to give him the keys or he is in trouble???
lilhellian 26
People give little kids shiney things to keep them out of trouble.. But nowhere in the FML does it state that op knew about it until to late..
capslockisgood 19
Do you suggest that OP should lock away all of their keys? Even the one to open the locked container?
ronski 41
Possibly down the spaces between the floorboards

This is where bribery comes in! "I will give you one cookie for every key you give back." Worth a shot!
Trisha_aus 15
What kind of cookie?
leadawg75 12
Unless he ate them, which in that case, I hope he keeps them...
I_iz_B_a_troll 23
Or he swallowed them :D
whirlednews 8
Hopefully he didn't eat them.

Tell him that for every key he gives back, you won't hide one of his toys!
