Today, my college class was talking about Felix Baumgartner, who jumped from the edge of space down to earth. A boy suddenly put his head up and said in a serious tone, "I thought he jumped from the moon?" Several girls concurred. This is my generation. FML

Autumn: Leaves and Laughter
When the leaves fall, the laughter rises. Discover autumn stories as crisp as dried leaves!
Same thing different taste
Stop staring!
Today, my 5-year-old told me that she'd learnt about gravity, then asked, “So when you fall down, is it because the Earth punched you?” I said yes, along with a giggle. Later at the supermarket, she tripped and screamed, “THE EARTH HIT ME AGAIN!” I was then reminded of high school when it felt like everyone was staring at me. FML
Today, while teaching my high school class about astronomy, I showed them a picture of earth from space. One girl raised her hand, and asked me what the "white things" were. In other words, clouds. FML
Today, in astronomy class, a kid used Uranus in a hilarious innuendo. I was the only one who laughed. I also happen to be the teacher. FML
Today, I got a call from my 8-year-old's 3rd grade teacher. Apparently a question went around class asking, "Why do you think you were put on this Earth?", and my son answered, "My dad says it's because I swam the fastest." FML
Today, my friend took me tandem skydiving. When it was time to jump, he began crying, said he'd cut our parachute cords, then said "Goodbye, cruel world!" and pushed me off the plane with him strapped to my back. I pissed myself and cried like a bitch. He thinks his "prank" was hilarious. FML
Shadowboxing
Today, my whole family was so excited about watching the Artemis II launch and scolded me for not mustering more enthusiasm. Great, we can go to space now… so anytime someone talks about real issues like climate change or racism, we'll hear, "Well just go to space then" or "Space will solve our problems." FML
Today, I found out I was 13th in a graduating class of about 350 students. When I told my mother, without batting an eye, she told me, "Hey, shit floats". FML
It's never like in the movies
Today, after giving a speech at college, I did the good ol' mic drop. The microphone fell with a loud bang that was heard through the clapping. FML
Today, a short guy asked me how the world looked "up there", as I'm really tall. I decided to lift him up so he could see for himself. I failed both times I tried, to the great amusement of everyone watching. FML
Today, while teaching juniors about black holes, I said, "Imagine everything being sucked into a black hole." An African-American student shouted, "I'd better start clenching!" Nobody took the lesson seriously after that. FML

It seems they don't understand the gravity of the situation.
flockz 19
if that was the case, screw jumping back to Earth. i don't want to live on this planet anymore anyway.

I feel sorry for humanity. :(

So you base humanity off of a couple of dumbasses?

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
randomthing 22
Who cares.
IAmJad 18
Obviously you do 29.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
It's not like OP was any more correct. The stratosphere, the layer of the atmosphere from which Felix jumped from, isn't anywhere near "the edge of space", where OP claims that he jumped from. Yes, this is my generation.

I feel sorry for your face.
hatesfate 6
29 obviously you do since you rushed to be the first comment...

Humanity feels sorry for you
randomthing 22
Well okay, whatever you guys say. :p
dashizam 10
53- the news always says "edge of space".
deBlobX 12
It doesn't matter what the news says, 53 is right. The stratosphere extends to about 50 kilometres above ground. The exosphere (exiting the atmosphere), thins out into outer space at about 1800 kilometres above ground. He was about 1750km off the edge of space...ALMOST THERE
MDTeddy 13
Assuming is one thing. Stating someothing not possible in the world of physics.
amandajlucas2015 2
Is this a book or like actual news like a guy jumpin from a plane down to earth.. I'm slightly confused
Zoh_Aubrey 8
134 - He rode a flying dragon AROUND the moon and then jumped from the Death Star to Earth. And sure, it was book.
tjv3 10
I too feel sorry for humanity and I question our ability to survive. There should be mandatory IQ and commonsense testing before people ate allowed to reproduce
katdaiken 16
I must ask -134 do you live under a rock? It's only been on every social networking site media etc... Ohhh this generation
Nanall 15
Maybe 134 does not have any social media network. Good thing too, anyway just to make it short 134, he's a real guy who skydives, and he holds the record for highest skydive. And next time you can always just google it. The more you know, the more you know.

153, Not everyone depends on social media =/. Since when do we judge humanity on their knowledge of semi-cool but ultimately pointless and trivial events?? Next time someone doesn't know that Eric "The Storage Container" Smith just ate a 25lb cheeseburger in an hour, I'll swear humanity is going straight downhill.
FATTY_MCDOOGLE 29
I just don't even know how to feel anymore.
junkman6 22
At 153 ummm yeah you're right. This ******* generation. SMH. I bet you do your research papers from Wikipedia if you get your news from Facebook.
flockz 19

ICastillo 24
Agreed flockez I kind of posted the same comment without reading first like a dumbass but agreed.

no hard feelings, ICastilleo.

Woh, samurai Mario...

Nope, ezio Mario
ICastillo 24
More like assassin Mario #98
SamanthaCassieL 10
I had to Google this person, but even before that, logic tells me jumping from the moon is impossible to survive as the atmosphere would burn him... smh that's just sad...
P374RD3D 9
^If you tried to jump from the moon to earth, you would land back on the moon.
onlychildFTW 33
When he jumped it wasn't really from the edge of space either. The atmosphere is thicker then how high he was.
maosquare 18
Well, when you use 'then', it isn't actually 'than' either.
labiscuit 15
I don't usually comment, but wow. Just wow. The atmosphere would absolutely not be the problem with jumping from the moon.
Carmstro 13
164 but I thought gravity only existed on earth!
nightwing2 3
The lack of pressure in space would implode him first( he goes fat then pops). It's also humanly impossible to jump that far even on the moon
teentee401 36
Are you ******* kidding me? Other planets and moons have gravity. The moon just has less gravity than earth. Jesus.
mowmowlife 21
It seems they don't understand the gravity of the situation.
TrueTriage 16
I'm curious how many people thumbed this comment for the sake of it sounds smart so they can jump on the band wagon vs how many people actually understand it in regards to the FML.
mario2012 18
They were thumbing it up because of the funny pun.
BellaBelle_fml 23
You think only 'smart' people would understand the pun about gravity in relation to the FML? You don't think very highly of people do you?

-94 stupider is not a word. Try dumber or more stupid, THEN try to call everyone else stupid.
aerlk12 3
@101 Stupider is a form of stupid, so yes, it is a word.
mduffy08 8
104 - Well man, I guess you are more stupid than the other guy. =)
CaptainDoorknob 7
That was probably one of the best puns I've read on this site.
labiscuit 15
"Stupider is a form of stupid, so yes it is a word". That made my day. Thank you.
GuessWhatKids 13
Since we're talking about space and who is "stupider"; Girls go to Jupiter to get more stupider, boys go to Mars to get more smart ;)
nicray 0
Ha!
Horstradamus 6
Look who's 'stupider' now. Because, my dumb friend, it is a legitimate word.
st333ph 12
And to think, it actually gets worse.
Ozuru 11
Yes....yes it will because they are going to breed if they haven't already *shudders*.

I fear for our future because of ignorant people like this.

did you forget bush?

I wonder what their thought process for this was.

130,000 feet, 240,000 miles. Same thing.
KiddNYC1O 20
If it takes around 32 hours to complete a 4,000 mile dive imagine a 240,000 mile dive. If i did my math correctly, it would take over 80 days. Damn. Edit: I didn't plug in 32ft/s/s so I'm not sure.
bimonthly 4
hopefully they're at least pretty
UberNova 18
Yeah...because if they are pretty they might actually find someone to be with, and have kids...these people reproducing is going to be sooo marvelous!!
siickman 7
Last thing we need is dumb females reproducing young into the world to make more dumb people... 0.0
gc327072 30
Well if they're pretty, they'll at least be easy on the eyes, and not hard on the mind AND eyes
AKGirlinSD 20
Brains beats beauty when it comes to common sense, such as this FML. Most pretty girls get thru life by solely their looks. One day, they wake up, realize their man has traded them in for a much younger, prettier girl than her and that once-upon-a-time-very-pretty-girl is just an old hag now.
CrewBoy 10
You should have slapped the shit out of him.
