Today, I was waiting for my wife in a mall when some kids came and sat near me, wearing band t-shirts. I recognized some, as I was into The Smiths and Black Flag in my youth. I tried to strike up a music-fan chat with them. "Fuck off, grandad" and "Ew, pedo" is all I got in return. FML

I seriously doubt they knew the bands anyway. Like all the stoners with the Bob Marley shirts.

Stupid kids wearing band shirts when they only know one song by the band. Fucktards the lot of them.

mintcar 9

It's not just kids, some people wear band tees without knowing who they are. I saw a girl wearing a Misfits crop top ( not sure why it's being sold as a crop, but w/e) and I let her know that I think they're an awesome band. She had no idea what I was talking about. In any case, I came off looking really stupid.

Nobody knows who the Misfits are anymore, just the iconic skull. It's also sad that kids like them set standards for the rest of us. Every time I wear my Styx shirt, a handful of adults ask me if I even know who they are.

Silent_Thrill 17

#49- I see that all the time. I'm a huge Misfits fan (Danzig era only) and every time I see someone with a Misfits shirt I go and talk to them in hopes that they actually listen to them. Most of them reply "oh, it's a band? I thought it was a clothing brand."

Unfortunately this is my generation.

Disrespectful, retarded, and our future... We're doomed.

Could be the other way around, in grade 8 I was wearing an AFI shirt and this kid goes "what's an afee?"... Really?

@67 If people don't know the Beatles then I lost all hope.

Yes, unfortunately this is my generation too. I know as a fact that me and my friends would never be so rude. We would try and make polite and friendly conversation. It sickens me that things like this actually happen.

skulltorn 8

#56- they ask you because styks is a horrible band! Thats why there's a river that leads to hell that's named after them!

133 you are a fucktard, the river Styx is from Greek Mythology. I hope you were being stupid intentionally.

I hate my generation. We're so dumb -.-

Hey dumbass does he question your faith?

Hey dumbass does he question your faith?

As part of this generation, I would like to apologize on the behalf of the rest of the generation for our behavior.

xxBFMVAAMIWxx 18

I hate my generation. At least I can say I know The Smiths, Black Flag, and most if not all the band's mentioned in this thread. It disgusts me that people do that to seem "cool". Wearing merch is only "cool" if you actually know the bands your wearing -_-

Five Finger Death Punch is ******* horrible. I absolutely loathe that disgrace to metal.

CheeseTron 15

Yea I'm ashamed to be among them.

I agree they suck. Bunch of posers. Their parents did a horrid job of raising them. I'm sorry OP I'm going to teach my son better than that.

Silent_Thrill 17

Even though I'm a teenager myself I find myself think "those damn teens" all the time. Especially with music they piss me off. I see many people my age wearing Metallica, Misfits, Black Sabbath, Slayer, and Pink Floyd shirts... band of which I'm a huge fan of. Then I go to find out that they don't even know them or say "Enter Sandman is a cool song" or "Iron Man is a good song". Most people want the image of it to make themselves look more interesting... for some reason. Okay enough ranting.

Most people wear band tshirts because they think it makes them look cool. But when you talk to them, they know nothing.

amberr6 0

I agree. I'm a teenager and I find myself shaking my head at them often.

We're not all bad... Those kind of children make all of us look like retards.

zadie 6

Yeah, sorry for my generation OP. Nowadays, it's really difficult to find somebody who's not a poser. Most of the 'music' people around here are just obnoxious pricks. I wear band tees like Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Guns N' Roses..... but I actually do listen to the band whose shirt I'm wearing. And if anyone tried to strike up a music conversation, (no matter how old) I'd be thrilled.

CoolRainbowdash 15

Not all the kids in this generation sucks

53- Says the guy who's bio is: My name is Austin.... bitch.

PandaKitteh 20

Not all kids in this generation do... I listen to Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Misfits, The Smiths/Morrisey, Arcade Fire... Etc. But I do agree, most every kid in this generation sucks. I hate being a part of it.

Guys who gives a shit what you listen to, listen to what you like and move on with your life. Not every single teenager out there is a poser or blind to good music so quit with the stereotyping, there's ignorant people from every age group and generalizing one just makes you ignorant yourself.

I am 13 and I resent that! ...But it's so true...

xxBFMVAAMIWxx 18

I seriously doubt they knew the bands anyway. Like all the stoners with the Bob Marley shirts.

And the wannabe rockers with nirvana shirts. Don't get me wrong, I love nirvana but I'm yet to see someone wear a shirt that actually listens to them.

perdix 29

And no one know what Che Guevara did, but they all wear his T-shirt.

CallMeMcFeelii 13

They must have listened to Black Flag before though. They acted like little punks. I remember a video of Henry Rollins letting crowd beat the hell out of his face.

May I add the ones that wear the Misfits or Sex Pistols to that list? I can't really add Nirvana in there because I have yet to meet anyone that doesn't like their music. But you might have.(:

Perdix- bro that's the tip of the muhfuggin iceberg.

mintcar 9

The kind of stoners you're talking about know who Bob Marley is, they just don't listen to any of his music. But they sure as hell pretend they do.

“The [black person] is indolent and lazy, and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.”- Che Guevara Che Guevara= Cuba's Hitler

or the people who dress like punkers but have metal bands patches and when asked about their favorite music they say some emo shit

Epikouros 31

I wear the Che Guevara t-shirt with the line "Communism killed 100 million people and all I got was this lousy t-shirt". (Well, not in public, I don't want to become no. 100,000,001.)

alphaskater09 9

Honestly I don't like nirvana that much. It's just not my style.

xDropsOfJupiterx 8

Your profile picture is ironic because it says what I thought when I read your comment.

Dr0reos 8

It's not the stoners faults. Chances are they knew who Bob marley was and just forgot

#18, 94, They have some idea that he was a rebel. That's why I have fun confusing them with my t-shirt with Albert Einstein wearing a Che Guevara beret.

59- 59- I hope you know that is not an actual quote from Che Guevara. If you do some research on him you'll find he was an ardent supporter of black rights, something he frequently wrote about in his personal diary and he was hailed by both Malcolm X and Nelson Mandela for his efforts.

llamaduckllama 1

I understand completely!! I went to camp with a kid wearing a nirvana shirt, me being a Nirvana and Pearl Jam fan myself tried to start a conversation with him. He didn't have a clue who Kurt Cobain was... I hate my generation

desireev 17

Sorry guys, but the Pink Floyd "fad",(yes, I said "fad"), is the one that gets on my nerves the most. Go out and ask a 16-year-old kid, who's wearing a Pink Floyd shirt, their favorite song by Pink Floyd and they'll say "Uuuh... Dark side of the moon?". Ugh! It just irks my butt!

alisidewinder 9

Brick in the wall. I am wearing my Pink Floyd tee. Just couldn't resist answering 143. Although I am not a teen I felt as if I should answer.

mintcar 9

I agree, it's totally a fad. I saw a Pink Floyd top being sold at Forever 21 last year. It was even styled and dressed up on the mannequin.

I'm recently 16, and Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands. My favorite songs are "Wish You Were Here" and "Another Brick in the Wall, part 2". So...yeah. Not all teenagers are (I hate using this word, but I can't think of another term for them) poseurs or complete idiots when it comes to good music.

I know I was wearing a black flag shirt and saw another girl wearing one, I asked her, her favorite song was and she answered that assassin creed is a game not a band.

How do you know what "devils music" is? For all you know, the devil could listen to smooth jazz.

#52: That mental image is fantastic. I can just see Lucifer drinking single malt scotch, sitting in a leather wingback chair in front of a fireplace, and reading "The Picture of Dorian Gray" while smooth jazz fills the room.

Devil music: music listened to by a younger generation that the older generation does not approve of. And at some point I guarantee there was a generation who believed jazz was the work of the devil.

57 - then lucifers wife enters the room, and he stand up and says all smoothly, "lets dance, baby." With one eyebrow raised and all hahaha

52- "I don't always drink after I damn souls, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis." "Stay naughty my friends"

graphicstyle7 17

Adults forget how nasty kids can be. Nothing has changed.

Those are the types of kids that make the rest of this generation cringe. Not all of us are disrespectful like those morons. Sorry about that!

feldco1 17

Those punks just wear them because it looks cool. They were probably blasting Justin Bieber in the car on the way over.

Best comment here... Ppl dont read this far down!

The 77 thumbs up contradict your statement.

perdix 29

You should murder them with your meat. The Smiths kid, at least.

Shadowvoid 33

I don't get it but I'm only 16, I rarely get references from basic pop culture. So as you can see, i am not a reliable person to ask about any references. I am just one of those "damn, naive kids."

Shadowvoid 33

Well played Alan, i got my 0.0 on you

I got the reference. Wicked album. :-)

Epikouros 31

Same old jokes since 1985... :)

pinkzilla0 8

Not at all- for me anyway. I also find that no one knows who The Cure are. That is just so sad.

perdix 29

#115, I know The Cure. Maybe you need to start hanging out with old pervs. ;)

22-year-old here lucky enough to have an awesome dad who introduced me to The Cure at age 10. I've loved them ever since and if my kids are anything like I was I'll pass on the knowledge.

The fact that you use the phrase "in my youth" means A) You're too old to be striking up a conversation with those damned whippersnappers, B) You're old enough not to give a **** what those little punks think or say, and C) You're old enough to curse them out for being rude and obnoxious and not respecting their elders.

HelloGuys 4

I agree with letter A. Honestly the kids shouldnt be talking to strangers anyway

Doc, how about all of the above? Since kids these days are not it used to be, so using all of the above should work.

Shadowvoid 33

I personally am tired of all the damn kids going " ew pedo" "what a creeper" " *gasp* stalker" after meeting someone once or twice. In reality the chance of anyone being a stalker or creeper is 1/ one million. And rarely does anyone under 30 classify as a pedophile.

Qandol - My comment is meant to be "A, B, and C", not multiple choice.

43- that's a gross understatement! Pedophiles come in all shapes and sizes... All ages and genders!

Also 4% of the population are pedophiles.. http://childprotection.lifetips.com/cat/63575/pedophile-search-and-statistics/index.html

Shadowvoid 33

Dear miss aussie child, am i a pedophile because my girlfriend is 17? Or is she a pedophile because i am 16?

HelloGuys 4

Why'd my comment get thumbed down? You can never be sure who is a pedo, so kids shouldnt randomly talk to strangers. If im wrong oh well whtever

RedPillSucks 31

I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way ... Screw that. Open a can of whup ass and teach them some respect. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
