Actually, the real meaning of the word slut is "Unkempt woman." Even if a woman is a virgin she can be a slut if she doesn't bathe or brush her hair, wear clean clothes, etc. It was just used a lot for women who worked as prostitutes because who knows how many guys had slept with them since their last shower? And because prostitutes were often poor and so couldnt afford clean clothes.

In my opinion, anyone can sleep with whoever they want. But you have to realize that there will be consequences. If you decide to sleep with all your friends, you should understand that in some ways you're going to lose a bit of respect. I wouldn't say she's a "slut" if these are the only three guys she's slept with, but I've known girls who've slept with 25+ guys in the span of a few months, then wondered why they couldn't find a good boyfriend. It's cause, essentially, you're a skank. Guy's don't like skanks. Sex doesn't equal affection, many guys will hump a pillow if it's soft enough. And if you freely give yourself up to lots of different guys, that's a big turn-off.
Anyway, if you have sex with your friends, you should know there's consequences. Personally, I would never sleep with any of my female friends, even if they offered it to me. And before you say "yeah right," some already have. I value the friendship more than I value sex, and sex only complicates things most of the time. Surprisingly enough, you can have meaningful relationship with members of the opposite sex without boinking all of them. If you don't want complications associated with sex, don't have sex with them. The problem here with all the talk of double standards and "OH IF IT WAS A MAN IT WOULD BE OK WHY NOT A WOMAN?" nonsense is that men and women have different breeding strategies, which govern our sexual activity.
Since men do not have control of a uterus, the place where the fetus actually gestates, it is impossible for a man to truly know if a woman is carrying HIS child, which is why he sleeps with as many women as possible, to maximize his potential of conceiving a child with half of his chromosomes.
A woman, on the other hand, has absolute selectivity. Choosing whom to sleep with gives her total control of her own breeding strategies; she can be reasonably sure that any given pregnancy is with a given man.
When she sleeps with men out of control, she effectively waives that right. Men call her a slut because if they sleep with her -- really the biological imperative to reproduce -- they will never believe any child is theirs. Women call her a slut because 1. they are in competition for viable sperm with her, and calling her a slut is a way of associating themselves with trustworthiness, which is important for attracting a man -- actually rated the most desirable quality in a woman, by men, and 2. because she has given up a unique sovereignty over her reproductive habits all women inherently have, and in doing so diluted her control as now men may expect her to put out like the slut did.
This isn't my opinion, this is psychology and biology. No matter how progressive we get as a society we will not be able to overcome the fact that at the end of the day we *are* animals, and beholden to their instincts and habits.
I see that most of the people defending her are also women, have feminine user names, etc. It's unsurprising as they too are probably "sluts" and want to defend themselves by proxy in defending her.
Again, this is the science of psychology and biology speaking, not any opinion of mine.

Fair and unfair don't factor into it.
