Today, I drove to my college campus for my 8 a.m. class, parked, walked the mile and a half to my classroom, just to find out class had been cancelled. The prof didn't send an email because she couldn't remember her password. I paid $1200 to be taught by this woman, who has a doctorate. FML

Today, I found out that a single unpaid parking ticket from September put my student account on hold and unregistered me from all my spring classes. I'm a senior and this is my last semester. FML

Today, I left 20 minutes early for school to get a good seat in class. I sat in traffic for 20 minutes before I even got on the thruway and for another 25 minutes once I got off the exit for school. Then I couldn't find parking at my university. I missed class. FML

Today, I woke up at 7, got to college by 7:40 to receive an email that my 8:00 a.m. class got cancelled. I stayed there until 12:00 p.m. for my second class, to then find out that the cancelled class was the one at 12:00, not 8:00. FML

Today, I got up and walked to college for my only class which started at 9 a.m. after a night of restless sleep. Our exam is two weeks away, so I thought it would be better to attend. Apparently, my teacher thought differently. FML

Today, after attending lectures for months, studying for weeks, and spending hours writing a 15-page research paper, I was informed that due to technological issues during registration, I was not enrolled in the class. FML

Today, I had to go meet my professor at 12. I wound up showing up almost an hour late. Why? Because she doesn't teach at the campus I registered at. I wound up having to visit TWO different campuses before I reached the right one. FML

When I was at college I usually got there half an hour to an hour early so I could troll for parking and then study or finish homework with the extra time.

I agree #6, on days I drove to class I would leave earlier too. "I couldn't find a park" won't really cut it once OP starts in the workforce. University teaches you skills beyond that of the classroom, like punctuality and time management.

Parking is generally better in the workforce. I can always park at my job but never at university, and anyone I know with a job can always park with no problem.

I understand the feeling, at my college we have no parking, and 95% of the parking is for the residents who live in the surrounding areas - it's a nightmare

In my university everyone comes either by bike or by public transport, so parking is never a problem. Then again, I live in the Netherlands, and almost no student can afford a car...

In my university in the US, it's not that everyone can afford cars. It's that we don't have a choice. There isn't a reliable public transportation option and it would be over an hour bike ride for me to get to class (which isn't super realistic because we live on a mountain so winter would be miserable). Consequently, almost everyone drives and there's never any parking. I show up about 45 minutes early to be sure I have time to find parking.

I'm never sure if I'm better off travelling in by car or train to my uni because the trains can be so rubbish, I have to leave plenty of time to allow for delays anyway. I suppose the plus side is that since I am so tired in the mornings it's much less dangerous than driving.
