brush your teeth?
#1 - On 05/03/2009 at 11:48am by ellis
Time to buy some whitening strips!
yeah try some oral hygine
lawl the word oral ;D
Ew dude, brush your teeth.
It could be that you drink way too much coffee and tea. That will stain your teach no matter how much you brush your teeth. You can get your teeth whitened you know, the technology is there.
#5 - even with good oral hygiene, drinking lots of coffee and/or tea can make the teeth yellow, for example.

Ever heard of this magical little thing? It's called toothpaste. USE IT.
why didnt you just say "i dont smoke?"
it's not that big of a deal
I brush my teeth all the time and my teeth still suck. It's genetics. Maybe you inherited shitty teeth. My teeth are wicked sensitive to hot and cold, they're kind of tinted yellow, and it hurts when I have too much sugar. A mento cracked one of my molars in half and for WHATEVER reason they haven't taken it out yet.
Anyway... It isn't entirely your fault. I brush like crazy all the time, but the dentists always fucking lecture me... >.>
You could always try brushing with a wicked strong toothpaste or something... Maybe some of those stupid whitening strip things...
that's fucked!
but also kinda gross..

I'm sure if you would have said "I don't smoke" he would have began a lecture about how drinking coffee/tea does the exact same thing. He was just doing his job.
omg i can totally relate! my dental hygenist told me yesterday that my teeth were so bad it looked like i chewed tobacco. she then stood up and was like "you don't chew tobacco... do you?" i don't and i never had. dental hygenists are such bitches. i brush my teeth like crazy but i just inherited soft teeth. it sucks.

I had to leave my former dentist because all they would do is berate me for my gums and teeth, even after telling me how it's genetic.
Once the hygienist actually made me cry.
#16: wtf is your problem? Seriously, you don't even know the OP. Dude, gtfo.
Wow, that sucks. You should lay off the coffee/tea. Because that could be the reason, and try brushing your teeth with a little baking soda. Brush your teeth twice a day, eat BEFORE you brush your teeth. Floss right after you brush your teeth. Mouthwash, oh and try to get some of those tablets where they show you if you have plaque or not.
*sorry I went to the dentist yesterday, and they had this good oral hygine[?] video on replay:)*
So your teeth are so yellow that he would assume you are a smoker?
YDI for not having good hygiene.

yeah...my dentist gave me the same speech when I went in to whiten my teeth. When I told him I didn't smoke and never would, he told me to stop drinking so much coffee, coca-cola, chocolate...so I just told him he'd make a lot of money off of me bc I would never give up those things. He smiled lol! Just tell your dentist that!!!
If you're a caffeine junky try green tea - it's way better for your teeth.
Otherwise lay of the sugar and get a toothbrush.
I brush and floss my teeth religiously, almost never drink coffee/tea/pop, and have never smoked or chewed tobacco. But I still have yellow teeth (I've had them all my life, actually). So sometimes it's genetic, and you can't do anything about it. I don't know what it is in the OP's case, but everyone should stop jumping to conclusions. Some of these comments were totally uncalled for.

You never smoke? You obviously never brush your teeth either.
Gross. Those are serious coffee stains if he assumed you were a smoker! Try a whitening toothpaste, mayhap?
duuuuuuuuuuuude. at least use an at home whitening kit. teeth are one of the first things people notice. but i guess you're not one of those people...?

story of my life. happens to me every single visit.

Your dentist should have asked if you were a smoker or not for his file due to various reasons (like it effects bleeding, raises risk for anaesthetic etc.) and not just assummed this. He is rude but you shouldn't have let it be a long speech. Next time just say shut up A*Hole I pay - you work for me!
Oral hygiene works magic.
BRUSH YOUR TEETH!! or try whitening mouth wash or strips.
Oh, you can rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide before brushing your teeth... (DO NOT SWALLOW)
No, you don't smoke, you just have atrociously disgusting hygeine. God forbid you ever kiss someone.
For as long as she's been old enough to brush her own teeth, she has done so, the right way, as many times as necessary.. used floss, mouthwash, whatever she could to keep them great. Every time she went to the dentist, she was berated for not keeping good care of her teeth because of the cavities, etc. Sometimes there isnt anything you could do, they just get bad.
People, grow up and think before you make stupid comments. It specifically says "please try and be respectful", and I think most of you skip that part.
I sympathize with OP. Dentists are assholes. It's their job to fix your teeth. It's not their job to make you feel like shit about it every visit. Granted not ALL dentists are like this, but judging from the amount of comments here and from several friends' experiences, as well as mine, I have to call it as I see it. I can't think of another profession where they chew you out so bad. Dentists need to chill the F out.
I brush my teeth almost every day (There are times I'm working for so long I forget) and my teeth aren't perfectly white. They aren't suppose to be!
With so many people using whiteners and bleaching their teeth, even dentists don't know what color our teeth are suppose to be by natural means anymore! It seems that unless your teeth are blinding, your teeth aren't considered 'healthy' anymore.
I'd make sure to brush more if you can't control it.
It doesn't matter if the person brushes their teeth all the time, their teeth can still be yellow with good oral hygeine. It all depends on if the person is drinking a lot of coffee and soda, which stain teeth. Even with brushing and mouth wash that staining does not go away.
So OP, don't listen to these people who are telling you you're disgusting and w.e. There's many different reason for teeth to yellow. Teeth are not supposed to be super white. Our teeth all have a natural color to them. Yours could be more yellow than others. If you want to make them whiter, stop drinking things that'll stain your teeth. Use a whitening toothpaste and mouthwash. And try whitening strips. But make sure you brush and floss really well before using them. Or else you'll end up with bleached spots all over your teeth.
So take better care of your teeth...?

maybe you shouldn't rely solely on the dentist to clean your teeth

I know someone who has yellow teeth but brushes regularly and doesn't smoke/drink - its because he uses a toothpase that doesn't include a whitener.Using toothpaste such as Weleda will do that to you. its healthier than crest but you have to put up with your teeth not being shiny white
All you people saying "brush your teeth" (and other obnoxious variants of that) are idiots. Genetics and diet can make your teeth yellow no matter how much you brush them. I floss, rinse, and brush every day, and I've never smoked a cigarette, but I drank lots of soda and coffee for years, so my teeth have become yellow. Has nothing to do with dental hygiene.
@op: just use some teeth whitening strips.

What is it with dentists with HORRIBLE bed-side manners?! I had a run in with a new dentist last week. I went to bed with my teeth being just fine...woke up and one was chipped. So I went in and he yelled at me because I couldn't tell him how I did it, and accused me of lying to him. I went home to see my regular dentist..and it was a calcium deficeny (ahhhh....pregnancy. Lol.)
ok, what dentist doesnt lecture u at the end???
a dentist tried to tell me that too once. I think she was a newbie tough! plus i only smoke weed not cigs.
Are you sure you don't sleep smoke?
You may have "FLUORIDOSIS". Check this out at http://wikipedia.org & www.google.com Enter the term in the searchbar at* http://www.mercola.com Consider a CHLORELLA* detox. Use fluoride free toothpaste, and get a REVERSE OSMOSIS water filter.
metonymy (#22), I know exactly how you feel. Most people here are very ignorant and whenever there's a post that involves yellow teeth they keep saying it's gross and that it must be bad oral hygiene while nothing in the original post indicates such.
I also have always had yellowish teeth (inherited them from my father), and I brush and floss just like everyone else, don't smoke or drink coffee, etc, and yet they're yellow. And it's a real pity that most people here (and in real life) don't know or even want to know that yellow teeth might be genetic. But oh well. At least some of us know and don't immediately jump to conclusions about the OP.

That means you eat way to much sugary food or coffee and tea.... Just brush your teeth more and stop eating so bad.
Dude, that's crazy nasty. A tube of Colgate at Walgreens is only 99 cents, btw...
I feel bad for anyone who's ever kissed that mouth.
For everyone ragging on the OP for "not brushing their teeth" ... ever consider it may be GENETIC? My mother had yellow teeth when she was young, but she didn't smoke or anything and she always brushed her teeth.
I feel sorry for you, OP, just because I know it's a real pain to have people jump to such conclusions. FYL.
Oh my god yeah, I have crappy teeth completely inherited from my parents. I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day, every day, my parents and sister do too, and we all have slightly yellow teeth.
I hate dentist lectures. They think that someone's teeth show how good of a person they are. Aaaah!
drink less coffee... brush teeth more, brush for 2 minutes each time you brush... and chew non sugar gum, the saliva build up helps to elminate the plaque similar to a toothbrush and toothpaste...
Do yooh face the sun often.?
should be even more of an incentive to brushing your teeth
lawl dont worry about it. Yellow teeth can be fixed really easy.
hahaha this one was shane dawson worthy. lol
i cant believe there is a teeth whitening ad next to this post hahaha
heard this one from Shane Dawson
lmao one of Shane Dawson's favorites x]
This story is in youtube.com
Watch type in shane dawsontv and go to his channel he made a vid about fmylife and one of his favorite fmylife stories was this one (:
I had a very bad fever when I was very young that permanently discoloured my front teeth.
These days, with the kind of whitening technology we have, I've been able to get them pretty decent-looking, but back when I was in grade school and before all of that existed, I once had a note sent home from one of my teachers to my parents to get me to brush my teeth. I brushed my teeth at least three times a day when I was in grade school.
People are very, very quick to jump to conclusions... as both my story and the comments on this one show.
