Today, my nutjob girlfriend dumped me for refusing to stop talking to my best friend, just because she's a woman. Before she left, my now-ex decided to punish me by destroying the dissertation I've spent months working on, along with both backups of it. FML

I hate to hear crap like this. I know how much time, effort and mental exhaustion is involved when writing for graduate level classes. There's bound to be a way to recover these files. Best of luck to you OP.

I agree the girlfriend well ex is a bitch for doing that but I need more info. Were you and the best friend super flirty and stuff? I didn't force my boyfriend to stop talking to his female best friend but he did agree to because they were really really flirty and he was constantly telling her he loves her and calling her terms of endearment that he never even called me. It got to the point that most people thought he was dating the best friend. If you and your best friend were similar I can see why your ex would want you to stop talking to the friend... Though that still doesn't excuse her absolute **** move

if you are in a committed relationship, you shouldn't need to have another female friend. that is what screws up some relationships now.
