Today, my house was damaged by a tornado. I called my mother to see if I could stay with her for a few days. Her response? "I warned you not to move in with a man. This is God's way of punishing you." I've been married to said man for almost a year now. FML

Today, I went to help a friend move into her new apartment. We were half-way through when it started to rain, and in my anger I yelled that it's like these things happen just to annoy me. Then we heard the tornado sirens. FML

Today, while watching TV at my mother's house, a tornado warning came across the screen. After being in the dark, nasty basement for half an hour, my mom realized she was watching a recorded show, and that tornado warning was for 2 weeks ago. FML

Today, I was told by step-dad, who I live with, that my mom "hates my guts" while smiling so big, because he got a call from her. He's so desperate for her to come back that all the lying, cheating, manipulation, and emotional abuse doesn't push him away. She's a tornado. FML

Today, I was talking to my mom about how my fiancé has been ignoring me and that I didn't know why. Turns out, my mother told him that I was too much of a handful, was mentally disturbed and also cheating on him. Just so I wouldn't move out and would keep cleaning her house for free. FML

Today, I've not had any contact with my mother for years, and when tornadoes came through our hometown and wiped out most of our downtown area, she didn't contact me at all. I finally contacted her myself. Her reason for not contacting me? She had "watched the news" and "knew I was OK." FML

It seems like OP is writing that the man is her or his husband as a justification for living with him. I mean, I agree this is a FML, but as an adult one should have the right to live with whoever he or she wants without having to say "Hey that's okay, we're married !". Like anyone cares.

To whoever voted ydi, a lot of people lost everything! So far 51 died, 7 of those people (could still rise by 20) were children at school. There is a 3 year old in the hospital and no one can find his parents. How the hell does anyone deserve a NATURAL DISASTER?? OP, I am glad you made it through this horrible tornado, and there are places that opened up free housing for the VICTIMS of the tornado. Good luck!!

Not that I disagree with your statement, but OP is in Missouri and the big tornado on the news was in Oklahoma. Probably different events (but still bad for OP).
