Today, my girlfriend fell down the stairs and broke her ankle. She also had a bruise on her leg due to her friend biting her. I spent the night in the hospital to be there for her and support her, but I should have expected that the nurses would treat me like a criminal. FML

Today, I fell down a flight of stairs at college. I was taken to hospital with a fractured ankle and had to call my parents to drive me home. They constantly made passive-aggressive remarks on the way home, because I'd "totally ruined" their plans to eat out at a fancy restaurant tonight. FML

Ice cold break-up

Today, my girlfriend decided to break the news that she wanted us to be "just friends." However, she did it not in just any old way - while ice-skating. I'm currently in hospital getting stitches in my arm after I tripped in shock and she ran me over. FML

Today, I went to the hospital emergency room to visit my boyfriend who had badly sliced his leg open. It ended with me being admitted with a possible head trauma, after hitting my head on the wall and floor as I collapsed at the sight of his wound. FML

Today, I visited the hospital with my boyfriend to have an injury checked. When the doctor removed the band-aid, my boyfriend started screaming and passed out. I had to get him out of the room using a wheelchair. The "injury" is a cut in his finger. FML

Today, I was so happy to be leaving the hospital after breaking my arm the night before. Just as I walked out of the doors, a huge ambulance team was running in at the same time, and knocked me down full force. I now have a broken ankle. FML

Today, after slipping on my stairs and spraining my ankle, I got a brace and crutches at urgent care. When I went to get into my car, my crutch slipped on some paper and I fell. I crawled back into urgent care, only to learn that my sprained ankle is now broken in 2 places. FML

Today, I got bailed out of jail. I was there because I saw a girl being hit by her boyfriend. I rushed over to help only to have her hit me repeatedly. The cops came and she blamed her bruises on me. The boyfriend corroborated her story. FML

Today, I slipped and fell down the stairs, landing hard on my knee. Through my screams of agony, my mom accused me of exaggerating the pain, and said I was just being an attention seeker, before finally taking me to hospital. I was told my leg was broken. She refused to apologize. FML

Today, I finally got to come home after hours spent in a locked down ER after a car accident. My injuries were non life-threatening, but pretty damn painful. I asked my sister to pick up my pain meds from the pharmacy for me. She got drunk and "lost them", AKA gave them to her dirtbag boyfriend. FML

Falling Down

Today, I woke up in hospital. Apparently, I fell down the stairs, broke 3 ribs, one toe, and hit my head so much that 12 stitches were needed. I also blacked out for an hour before my husband found me covered in blood. Recovery should take about a month and a half. FML

Nurses have some pretty specific training. If they see a suspicious mark or injury they will try to talk to the person -alone- to verify that everything is ok. A lot of domestic abusers are caught at the hospital and it's usually the nurse who catches them. Staying all night is good for your friend, but it makes it look like you are "guarding" her to make sure she does not get to talk about what really happened. Here are a few pointers. Go for a walk - let the nurse know you are going. Wait at least 20 minutes before coming back so they can talk to the girl and get her side of the story. Be polite - it's the nurses responsibility to make sure there is no abuse going on, she's just doing her job. If you are rude or aggressive she might think you are trying to hide something. Answer all questions honestly - especially the embarrassing ones. Its better to be embarrassed than to have to clear the whole thing up in front of a judge if you give the wrong idea and get arrested. If there was abuse or an assault, be prepared to spend at least some time in a segregated room or even in handcuffs while they verify it was not you that did it. This is rare and usually only happens in more serious cases. Just try to stay calm and remember that your friends health and safety comes first. Anyway.. sorry that you got treated badly but I think the nurse did a good job of not trusting you since she had no way to be sure that you had done nothing wrong.

Nurses are always like that, my gf is accident prone aka a klutz and when we go to the hospital they always look at me like I'm the biggest pos in the world. What do they know
