Today, my eight-year-old microwaved our thermometer to see if the temperature would change. FML

I'd say it's a good scientific curiosity your child has.

Household Thermometers no longer contain mercury for, literally, this reason. But did it work?

Was it a mercury or digital thermometer? Buy the kid a science kit. You may have a scientist in the making.

Be happy. Your child is curious. A good future ahead.

All in the name of science huh? At least they're curious about the world

Well, it cost you a thermometer (hopefully a cheap one) but sounds like you have a future scientist on your hands :) Get him or her some science books and kits and run a few experiments (how a pendulum works is an easy and fun one) and run with this!

Children's curiosity is prone to cause them to do silly things, since you're posting this I'm guessing she didn't get hurt or anything so I'm glad she's safe.

I can't select "I agree, your life sucks" because it doesn't; that kind of curiosity is a great thing for a child to have. I can't select "You deserved it" because it makes you sound like a bad parent which is not the case. I guess this comment serves as a "your life is not f-ed" button.
