Today, I went to the blood bank to donate plasma. All went well until the machine went to return my red blood cells. It turns out the nurse sliced my vein and the blood built up in my tissues. I now have a massive swollen arm and bruising, and look like a junkie. FML

Today, I went to get my blood drawn to see how far along I am pregnant. The lady stuck both my arms twice and then busted a vein in my right arm. She told me to come back tomorrow to try again. FML

Today, I decided to give blood for the second time. I felt excrutiating pain when she stuck the needle in my arm. Another nurse came running over in a panic. Apparently my inexperienced nurse had put it in my tendon instead of my vein. FML

Today, I had to go to the hospital to get blood taken. The nurse mentioned how pronounced and easy to see my veins are. I guess that explains why she missed five times in a row. I'm surprised my arm doesn't look like a heroin addict's right now. FML

Today, I gave blood for the first time, since I'm a universal donor. After it was done, I passed out, woke up, puked, and passed out again. The kind nurses told me I was the worst case they had seen all week. So much for doing something to help others. FML

Today, I went to a blood drive. The nurse taking my blood mentioned that she'd been called in on her day off, and she swore she wasn't drunk. I didn't know what to do, so I just smiled and blinked back tears as she savaged the vein in my arm. FML

Today, I needed to get blood drawn. Apparently, my veins are too thin and no blood would flow into the tube. I'm afraid of needles, and was just poked with some unsuccessfully, and I have to go back next week to try again. FML

Panic attack

Today, I went to donate blood for the first time. When they stuck the needle in my arm, I had a panic attack and begged that they take it out. The woman helping me told me she'd take it out in a moment and left. It was then that the Red Cross stole a pint of my blood while I had a panic attack. FML

Today, as a veteran blood donor, I made a friend who was donating for the first time- I told her not to be scared and that I've been doing it for six years and that it was a great way to help people. While at the snack area afterwards, I passed out, started convulsing and went into shock. FML

Today, I finally went to have blood taken for an allergy test I really need. Afterwards, I had an allergic reaction to the bandaid they used on my arm. FML

Today, I went for bloodwork. It's routine for me, so I was ready for the nurse to put in the needle and take my blood. It went in fine, but right after, she slowly pulled the needle out, then wondered why the blood stopped. She then moved it back and forth in my arm while I panicked silently. FML

Exact same thing happened to me except I was giving double reds. Had a golf-ball sized lump on my arm for two days, and then looked like a junky for two weeks. Fun times.

Aw man, that sucks. I tried donating blood once but the nurse missed the vein and wound up nicking it while fishing with the needle, wound up with a huge bruise and a big spot of blood visable under the skin for a couple weeks. Volunteering to give out snacks from now on kthx.

Unless you are an actual junkie, what difference does it make? Sure, it's a little painful, but if you'd done your research you'd have realized it was not only a possibility, but something that happens fairly frequently. It's not the end of the world, wear a bandaid.

This isn't really a big deal, it's pretty common. I have to get my blood tested regularly and I always get bruises, again, not a big deal

I have blood tests every week and they cannot find my veigns. so I end up with like 8 bruises on each arm and my arms are blue.not a big deal. it happens.

I had the same thing happen to me. What's even worse is that I was doing it to help save up money for a down payment on a car, and I couldn't go back for 2 and a half weeks cuz of the bruising!
