Today, I was having a conversation with my mother during which I described something as being pungent. She thought I had made up the word, so I grabbed the dictionary to show her that I hadn't. She then became enraged, threw the dictionary at my head and told me never to talk to her again. FML

Actually, I was trying to show it wasn't a made up word. :)

Can you imagine playing scrabble with that nutter? It would be so vapid.

Maybe she should have looked up the definition of "overreaction"

come on! maybe she's on a red flag day that's why she is acting like that

People on here are acting like it's weird that the mom in this post is unreasonable and slightly crazy. It's FML, guys! It wouldn't be on here if she had reacted in a normal way.

Well unfortunately people aren't commenting out of common sense.

At least she probably knows where to put commas in a sentence.

I bet you were.acting kind of smug and/or snobby about being correct, and thats why she overreacted that way. Not saying you deserved the flying book to the head, but moms generally don't enjoy being made to feel stupid

Don't you EVER play scrabble with her.. She might just end up throwing the whole game at you too !! Lol

Did she get mad because she didn't know the word or because you were being a smart-ass about it and gloating? Ex: "See, mom! It's right there in the dictionary! Can you read it or you want me to bring you your reading glasses? Guess you don't know everything, do ya! Ha! Do ya? *ducks for cover*

she should be happy cause you know much than her
