That's perfectly logical. With base jumping and skydiving, the worst that can happen is that you die. Boom, it's over. If the girl rejects you, you will have to live the rest of your life in shame and as a laughingstock. Plus, you'll have to find a new pub because you won't be able to show your face in that one. A fate much worse than a quick death.
