Today, I'd stayed up all night to finish a detailed report. By the time I'd printed it I was late for work so I jumped in my car. Driving down the street, I saw my papers fly off the roof of my car. It was raining out. FML

If it was raining, why would you put the papers on the roof of your car?

This is why the roof of your car was NOT meant to be a shelf. I know it's pretty much commonly accepted to use it as such, but there are these things called "bags". You can put them on your arms, and still have use of your hands while carrying things. If you're the forgetful type, I'd recommend them.

Nothing good comes from placing items on your car as apposed to in your car.

it probably would have been best to just set the papers in the passenger seat next to you.

Need a moment? Perfect twix commercial but since it's not, sorry for what happened i hope it ended good

When in doubt, e-mail important documents to yourself and/or store them online.

You should invest in a jump drive. Just incase anything like this ever happens you'll have something to at least save you the time from going all the way home and printing it off again.

Hopefully your boss will understand.
