Today, I came out to my parents. They nodded empathetically throughout my entire speech and told me repeatedly that it was okay. As I smiled and stood up, my dad asked, "But you're still going to marry a guy, right?" FML

No worries, OP. Your dad will realize you're serious when you start bringing girls home. Happy hunting!

That sucks that they feel that way. Fortunately your parents' signature is not required for a marriage license.

Good for you coming out, I wish I could come out to my family. Sucks that they weren't accepting of you though.

congratulations op for being strong in who you are to tell your parents. when I told my parents I go both ways, my dad was very cool with it. my mom was shocked but she accepts me because I am who I am, and don't take shit from anyone. my stepdad, now he was confused (because I am practically engaged to my boyfriend) but we all sat down, they asked questions, I answered, and we are all good with it. give it time. if he still doesn't accept it, tell him it's your life and you don't wanna live life in a lie, and your integrity is more important to you. hope it works out.

Try being bi? Then you could be happy and still marry a guy!
