Today, having learned decent English, I realize that not only do my fellow Germans mispronounce most international brand names - like Vicks VapoRub or Pedigree Pal - and have no idea what they mean. Even the voice overs on TV ads pronounce them wrong. FML

That's... completely normal. How pretentious are you trying to be? Pronouncing "VapoRub" or even simply "Ford" in the proper English way in a German/Dutch/French/... sentence would completely mess up the flow. If you're doing this every time I can guarantee you that you don't sound as sophisticated as you think you do, you just sound like an Arsch. Maybe focus more on working on your ego instead of finding non-existent fault with others.
