Today, at my work in a call centre, a man called up on a very quiet line to report a car accident on his father's behalf because his father was deaf. I asked him to ask his dad if he was OK after the accident. I'd misheard him and he had said "dead", not "deaf". He started crying. FML

That's bad, but just think about the poor guy who just lost his dad.

Sometimes it's not a bad idea to repeat back what they said as if you are taking notes...so then you know if you got it right or not

that wouldnt make it any better. the guy calling would then still have to repeat the words "my fathers dead" and make him upset and cry. either way its akward...

Don't worry, he posted on here too, it's still In moderation

Today, my son thought I was dead and tried to claim my car insurance. I'm just deaf. FML?

lol I'm deaf girl. I know what you mean

On moderation, someone put the other side of this from the son's perspective. I doubt it was the actual person it happened to, though.

That's horrible but it's not you're fault. It's more like an fhl tho.
