Today, a child was choking in the store I work at. He was alone in the aisle, so I started the Heimlich without his parents' permission. After dislodging what was caught, his mother turned the corner and went screaming to my manager for touching her kid. I got a write up. FML

Parents have no common sense these days

Hey OP. At least you saved a life. Many people would have just walked by

That, ladies and gentlemen, is a perfect example of armchair parenting.

You did the right thing, saving a child you didn't know. Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished in our society.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That's the world we live in nowadays. Good on you though for acting so quickly. Well done!

well only one thing to do give him back what he was choking on and just rest asured the universe will sort its self out

I'm sure it would have looked weird without explanation but hopefully things cleared up once you explained yourself (if you were able to) Good on you though, OP.

the feeling is mutual sweetheart.

What is the world coming to when saving a life is punished? FYL OP, but good on you for acting quickly and knowing what to do during a crisis.. Your employer should be commending you for it, you should ask them to review the security camera footage to prove the child was in danger.

You definitely made the right call, shame the mother was such a presumptuous bitch.

Don't worry op hopefully the kid will remember you and will want to learn things like the Heimlich and CPR when he's older
