Today, I saw my car being broken into on the street below my apartment. Too scared to stop them myself, I called the police. Before I could even tell them what was going on, they put me on hold. It was a good 5 minutes before I realized they'd hung up on me. FML

Really? I'm at a loss for words on this one

This is really upsetting. You could have been in a life threatening situation. A life may have been lost due to the stupidity of people we are supposed to rely on

Cops sometimes just suck and if you get a gun and try to defend or protect your property, you'll get in trouble. FYL.

Doesn't surprise me one bit: Last time I called 911 it was because a stranger had entered my house in the middle of the night, unwelcome and uninvited. It took two transfers and 35 minutes to get a single cop car to show up. In the meantime, I'd chased the intruder out. (and the cops didn't even come to the door, I had to go outside and flag them down when i saw them rolling down the street). When my former roommate, who was drunk and having a breakdown, rage-called 911, there were 3 cars and 5 officers at my residence within 5 minutes. No, nobody was in trouble, but I was asked to leave so "she could have space to collect her emotions".

next time press the alarm button on your keys.
