Sorry OP. I hope you have someone else in your life who's more supportive

I was recently diagnosed myself, and my mother isn't supportive in the least. I feel for you, OP.

Honestly OP, I think your dad does care, he just doesn't know how to handle it. Whenever I dealt with my parents' divorce or death of someone I know, I always made jokes(not crude ones) to make myself feel better & ignore what was going on. It's really the only thing that kept me from going into a depression.

I feel for you OP, I've had depression for years and have never told my parents because they would want to know WHY I am depressed and there really is no answer. I think your dad reacted quite poorly to your news and you should maybe sit him down and explain exactly how serious depression is.

You could ask him for some of whatever he's taking, since it seems effective.
