Tetchy

Today, my husband broke a set of dishes, told me I had to clean it all up, and stormed out of the house. It’s now 3:30am and he still hasn’t come home. Our 5 year-old son keeps asking about him. What warranted all this? Asking him how his day went. FML

Get help. Now. There is a child involved.

Honey, I know you want to make this work, but this is not a good environment for your child to grow up in. Do you want him to grow up thinking this is how people who are supposed to love each other treat each other? Your husband needs help, but you cannot and should not be the one to give it right now. See if he’ll go into anger management and/or therapy, by all means, but if he won’t, you need to put your and your son’s safety first.

Go somewhere safe with your child and start divorce proceedings ASAP. It's only going to get worse from here.

Leave and don’t look back. Next time it won’t be the dishes. It may be you, or worse. Someone else including your son. Be careful. Be safe. Realize he may get partial custody. Keep track of everything he does when you’re ready to leave, and try to but can’t.

Sounds like he belongs in some intensive psychological treatment.

If you see this, OP, please give us an update. I hope you and your son are okay.
