Today, my live-in mother-in-law brazenly swiped most of the money from my wallet, then walked out of the room as if nothing had happened. The worst thing is that my wife believes anything she says, so I can't do a damn thing about it. FML

Today, I witnessed my mother-in-law reach into my wife's purse and practically empty it out into her pocket. When I confronted her and called my wife into the room, both of them accused me of lying through my teeth, because I've always hated her. FML

Today, I came home after a long day at work to find the furniture in my living room had been rearranged by my mother-in-law. When asked how she got in, she told us she stole my husband's key and made herself a copy. She can now come here whenever she wants, unless I change the locks. FML

Today, I came home to my mother-in-law wearing the gold chain which I usually keep in a hidden drawer. I searched my drawer only to find out my chain was missing. I asked my mother-in-law if she took it and she keeps denying the fact that she stole it from me. My husband is on her side. FML

Today, I got home from work to I find my cash box open and empty. My mom walked up and said, "If you have a lock that easy to pick, you don't deserve the money." There was 650 dollars in there. She refuses to give it back. FML

Today, my wife says she's not hiding money from me but I checked our joint bank account, which I no longer use, and find she's been transferring money in-and-out of 3 accounts, while taking money from me and getting payday loans to cover it. FML

Today, I caught my sister taking money from my wallet. When I confronted her, she claimed that she was actually putting back money that she had stolen earlier. She doesn't understand the irony. FML

Take a $20 bill and write down the serial number. Leave your wallet on the dresser with the $20 poking out. When it's gone give your wife the note with the serial number on it and tell her what you did and that you're now going to confront her mother. One thing. You better be right.

I agree with others, setup a camera, and film her taking the money. Also is there some way you can mark the money inconspicuously and identify it as yours? I had a friend that had the cigarettes got missing in rapid amounts from her business behind the counter and some of the cakes on display etc, she marked them and when there was a check they were found in an employees bag and they were promptly fired. I am not blind to my mother, I know what she is capable of, so when my hubby complained I took his side. Goodluck OP! Sounds like you need it, as your wife still thinks of her mum as an angel or she just doesn't want to believe it, I guarantee she knows the truth on some level and just doesn't want to admit it to herself.

The problem began when you let your MIL move in with you. The fact that your wife doesn't believe you is a terrible sign. I agree that you need to get video evidence of your MIL stealing from you, and even then your wife may not accept it. If not, you may need to leave.
