Just because OP needed to get a retraining order against her boyfriends dad doesn't mean she needs to dump her boyfriend they could be dating for a couple years and an issue came up now.

Assuming you do process serving as a job - couldn't you have just given the file to your boss and explained you cant do it due to conflict of interest?
