How can I stay mad at you?

Today, I came home to find that my dog had chewed up my brand new, expensive pair of shoes. I was so angry that I yelled at him and he cowered in fear. But then, as I looked at his sad little face, it dawned on me that I was the one in the wrong for getting so upset over something materialistic. FML

The dog doesn’t know that those shoes are expensive. Dogs don’t understand capitalism. It’s significantly easier and cheaper to provide adequate chew toys and enrichment to redirect your dog to than it is to yell at an animal that doesn’t know what it did wrong, just that you exploded on it for what it believes is no reason.

hey! go a little easier on her people. OP, the negative posters here are 'casting stones'. it was a natural gut reaction. The fact that you didn't hit your doggo and immediately realized your mistake shows how much you love your baby. you learned a valuable lesson to keep those items out of reach. I'll bet you made it up to your baby with lots of cuddles, love n treats.
