Get me out of here

Today, while getting my MRI, I found out I had claustrophobia when I had a major panic attack and then was pulled out after only completing a single scan. I suffered through the other 10 because if that happened a second time, we'd have to reschedule after I took meds for it. I didn't even know I had claustrophobia. FML

That reaction is not uncommon. Sorry you had to go through that. If you need it again, for sure they can give you the good stuff to manage anxiety/panic; make sure to speak up and tell them you panicked, more than just a bit uncomfortable. I've never heard of "10 more scans," though. It's usually just one scan taking 20-120 minutes. Thankfully, another imaging tool, CAT scans, are done in a hoop instead of a long tube these days.
