Today, my boyfriend of four years, who has never been anything but loving and supportive, told me after I made a joke that there has been “a change” in how he deals with people, that he has been “purging,” and that I could be next because he “has needs too.” FML

What was the joke? There's a lot of details missing here, and it's hard to know if he reacted oddly to an innocent joke, or if this is the penultimate straw and you've been pissing him off for a while.

Depending of his definition of "purging" and whether he liked the "Purge" movies, you might want to check into changing your kind of humor, checking for a new apartment, or moving to the other side of the planet.
