Expensive walk

Today, I was taking my dog for a walk and got robbed at knifepoint. The robber made away with my phone, cash, and debit cards… and the French Bulldog I’m still making monthly payments for. FML

I feel bad for your loss, especially the dog since dogs are like family. That being said - funneling enough money that you’re making payments to a breeder for a dog breed that’s been inbred to the point of I’ll health and cruelty isn’t the best idea.

I'm sorry about your loss. To be blunt, if you have to pay off a purebred dog over time like a used car, you're not really in the economic class of someone who should own such a dog. There are plenty of mutts at shelters that need to be adopted for little to no cost. You can find excellent dogs there that won't throw you into debt.

Exactly. The situation is terrible. I’m sure being robbed at knife point is terrible. I’m VERY sure losing your dog is unbearably terrible. However, I can’t get my head around how someone would finance a dog. That dog is a living being, it’s not a car, it’s not a house, it’s a living breathing (it’s a frenchie so breathing is a long shot) animal. This isn’t my place to grandstand but I’m going to anyway and sorry not sorry. The idea of pure bred dogs has become completely inhumane. They have so many health problems from being bred and inbred to fit a “standard.” I don’t know when it happened, but these specialty breeds are essentially the royal family or any Arkansas “my brother is my cousin but the father of my sister who is the wife of my father that is the grandfather of my father that is the husband of my sister and the cousin of niece.” I didn’t take the time to actually figure that out but I feel like I made the point. Adopt don’t shop, or buy what is essentially the dog equivalent of a descendant of Queen Victoria for an insane amount of money if that’s really what you want. That’s my rant and ,again, I’m sorry. I’m just passionate about adoption and the eradication of breed specific “traits” that are making your poor pup miserable
