Don't panic!

Today, I had a meeting with our partner company from Japan. I was instructed beforehand on bowing but when the time came I panicked, stood way too close, and headbutted their boss in the boobs. I was “politely” asked to leave the meeting. I’m so embarrassed. FML

If my year of college Japanese taught me anything, it’s that Japanese people tend to adapt to other cultures, especially Americans, pretty easily. A Japanese businessperson will not normally expect you to bow to them; they expect you to shake their hand. The fact that you didn’t know this is understandable. The fact that no one bothered to check into this is baffling.

Sorry about that, but you did get to touch boob, right? You probably shouldn't have "motorboated" when you were down there. Makes it harder to play it off as an accident.

how come you have to work so hard to respect their culture but they can't respect that it's NOT part of yours? you obviously tried. being a dickhole is universal apparently
