Better safe than baby

Today, my boyfriend thinks it’s going so well, we have marriage potential, so before we get any more serious he wanted a promise that I will never want children, and if I think there’s ever a chance I might, tell him soon because we’ll have to split up before we waste each other’s time. FML

Move on. At least he's unequivocal on his stance about kids. I'm guessing this is an FML because you want kids or may want to decide later.

Honestly, this is a good situation to be in. If you 1. Don't want kids or 2. Don't want marriage/long-term commitment, it's time to off-ramp this relationship and find something that meets both your needs. If you're complaining about him not having the same life goals as you, but you want to string him along despite not being compatible, it's a "**** His Life" situation.

I think boyfriend is to be commended for his up front honesty. And if it’s FML because you were hoping to have children, then it’s time to move on if that’s important to you. Not everyone wants children and some people do. That’s perfectly OK on both parts unless you don’t agree. Trying to force a partner to do something that is important to them and they don’t want almost never works - It leads to broken hearts sooner or later. It’s far better to know these things up front.

He's right. This is something you need to know. Why waste your time?
