Today, I finally put the finishing touches to a huge project after 8 months of gruelling work. My boss had used the promise of a 5-figure bonus to motivate me. When I casually brought the bonus up later in the day, my boss just said, "Gratitude's its own reward, Mike." FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I arrived at work six minutes late due to heavily congested traffic. This is just two days after my boss put out a memo saying that anyone who's late to work from then until the new year will have their holiday bonus pay forfeited. FML
Today, my company was having a huge party so I went to work dressed in my best outfit. During lunch break, my boss said to me, "You really missed out on something yesterday, it was great fun!" FML
Today, my boss admitted that he seriously regrets hiring me, but can't really do anything about it because that would make the senior management question his judgment, making him look bad. So he's just 'putting up' with me. FML
Today, my boss made me work a longer shift than usual. Not because he needed me in, but just so I'd finish at the same time as his brat of a son, and give him a lift home. FML
Today, I went to ask my boss for a raise. Turns out they are firing 35 people. I wasn't on the list until I asked for a raise. FML
Today, my boss sent me a message about a project, via WhatsApp. It's my day off, so I figured it could wait till I was able to give a flying fuck. Literally a minute later, he was spamming me, demanding to know why I'd left him as read and reminding me that he has firing powers. FML
Today, I overheard my boss stressing out over finding a replacement for me. I didn't know I was leaving. FML
Today, I came back to work after being out for a week. As I walked to the back of the store, I threw my hands up and yelled, "I'm back bitches". Right after I said it, I noticed my boss was behind me. I was then taken to the office and wrote up for foul language on my first day back. FML
Today, my coworker insisted there must be an underlying, romantic reason for why I spend so much time teaching him everything, and that I didn't mean it when I told him that's what I'm paid to do. I'm actually supposed to train this guy for three weeks. Two more weeks to go. FML
Today, at work as a cashier, a guy came up with a cart full of stuff and it took me 10 minutes to ring it all up. When I told him his total, he felt his pockets, said, "Oh shit, I forgot my wallet!" and walked off. He left about 15 bags worth of things for me to put back. FML

About 4 years ago, I had an urgent project dropped in my lap. In addition to my regular projects, this had to be completed in 3 weeks. I worked 18 hours a day for 3 weeks straight. My boss was paid $25,000 for the job. He gave me exactly nothing as a bonus. 4 months later I started my own company. I took all his clients and even most of the employees followed me. What goes around comes around. Today, he's working for some company in Seattle making half of what I make.

Actually I joked with my sister that fingers also being digits I wanted to give her a 5 digit bonus for helping me with the yard work and offered here a high five. We mentioned the five finger bonus to our mom later and she said "You gave your sister a handjob?!"

Your boss is not your friend. Your company is not your family. Get everything in writing or assume it's not happening.

There is no loyalty in the workplace. Get everything in writing. File complaints via email, not phone or in person. If it's not in writing you can't prove it when you need to and bosses/corporations know this. I'm sorry you had to learn such a hard lesson.
