WHAT?
Today, my brand-new digital hearing aid fell out of my ear as I was walking home from the store. I've retraced my steps, but cannot find it anywhere. It cost $2000, and replacement, like the hearing aid itself, is not covered by insurance. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, a kid grabbed the receiver to my cochlear implant and ran off with it. I went to a security guard, and, if my lip reading was accurate, he said to "try and make it through the day without it". Without it, I can't hear anything. FML
Today, while waiting at a bus stop, I took one Airpod out of my ear to put it in its case. However, it slipped out of my hand, and at that exact time, the bus pulled over and instantly crushed it. A replacement bud costs $95. FML
Today, I bought a mini tracking device to attach to my wallet to keep me from losing it. Unfortunately, before I could put batteries in the tracking device, I lost it. FML
Today, I bought new earphones for my phone so I could finally listen to music again. Not an hour later I broke it. FML
Today, after calling the insurance plan for my new iPhone a "huge waste of money", I promptly dropped it in the store while trying to put it into my pocket, cracking the screen. FML
Today, I was laying down in bed when my puppy decided to bite my ear. As I started laughing and pulling him off, I noticed one of my $200 earrings got pulled off with it. And now… I wait. FML
Today, my hearing aids got wet because i was caught in the middle of a thunderstorm. So they stopped working. I didn’t hear this morning's alarm because I can’t hear the alarm without my hearing aids. FML
Today, I wore out yet another set of headphones. This is the third one in a year. I need my headphones whenever I go outside because I have sensory processing disorder, and a multitude of hearing disorders that painfully enhance my hearing. Guess I'm stuck at home until I can buy pair number four. FML
Today, I was listening to my iPod while changing the diaper on my baby. One earbud fell out of my ear and onto the changing table so I quickly picked it up without looking and put it back in my ear, only to realize the headphone had fallen onto more than a table. I now have brown earphones. FML
Today, after having lost my phone three days ago, I paid a $150 non-refundable fee to have my phone replaced and mailed to me by Tuesday. A half hour later, I found my original phone. FML

If you schedule the hearing aid on your homeowners insurance, like you would for any valuables in your home, your homeowners insurance will reimburse you up to the declared value for a replacement. Doesn't really help you now, but in the future you will definitely want to do that.

The person who fitted the aid should have some culpability here, too.

That is awesome! I work in insurance and had never heard of this being done! Guess it would fall in the “other” schedule category. Brilliant!

Agree with Jerilynn, sounds like it was badly fitted. OP wasn't playing rugby or skydiving, just walking. If hearing aids all fell out that easily, nobody'd bother buying them. It MUST have been loose, no?

I’m sorry, you’ll have to speak up. I can’t hear you without my glasses.

On the bright side, at least you have an excuse not to participate in this Laurel/Yanny bullshit!

It’s laurel lol I only heard that yanny crap when they made it a lower pitch.

I hear a man with a sort of deep voice say Laurel, but my daughter hears a woman who sounds like Siri saying Yanny.

If I'm wearing something two grand in my ear, I would get a hoop ear ring and tie that thing on.

I wear aids too. Born with 50% bilateral hearing loss. I feel your pain about insurance not covering the cost of aids. I had to pay out of pocket for my set to the tune of $5600. I had to wait 8 years before I could buy them. I’d suggest a go fund me to try to raise the money. It’s a good reason to help out and I’m sure plenty of people would be willing to chip in a little bit of money.

Is it new? Why would it fall out? It's meant to be molded to the shape of your ear canal to avoid exactly this problem. IMO, the company who made it should have to replace it, since they never did their job right.

How did it fall out? Did they give you the wrong size? And it makes me so mad that things like that aren't covered by insurance. It's not like people want to need them.
