What would you do?
Today, I took a deep breath and started journaling to "figure out my life." Two hours later, I had written four pages of ranting about my upstairs neighbor's loud footsteps and zero pages about my life goals. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I tried to write a journal entry about my day, but since I've become so used to going on tangents, my daily entry did everything but talk about my day. FML
Today, again I wrote out another FML. Again, I deleted it before posting. Every FML I write would seem like I'm just making stuff up, or would be so obviously me that it would just cause me grief. My life is just an endless stream of weird stuff I can't tell family or friends. FML
Today, I had so much to do, I didn't know where to start. So I didn't. FML
Today, I had depressive feelings, so I decided to write about it to find out what was bothering me, and let go of the negative thoughts. While doing so, I had a panic attack. FML
Today, while pensively thinking up my next awesome Facebook status over dinner, I finally came to the conclusion that I need to get a life. FML
Today, I wrote a submission to FML and I realized that I could be doing so much more with my life than this. I mean really, I have real life stuff to deal with, and I don't have the time to be reading these s*itposts, much less making my own. FML
Today, I found myself lying to my diary. FML
Today, I cleaned my room, which I’d been putting off for ages. Halfway through, I sat down “just for a second” to check my phone. Two hours later, I was still scrolling, surrounded by half-sorted piles of stuff. When my roommate walked in and asked if I was reorganizing or giving up, I didn’t know. FML
Today, I was writing in a journal as part of my therapy. I jumped and hid it when my boyfriend startled me by coming in. He now swears I must be cheating, that I’m keeping secrets from him and I trust a stranger with my personal thoughts more than I trust him. That’s kinda the point of therapy. FML
Today, I wore noise-canceling headphones while cleaning my apartment. Apparently I'd been singing at the top of my lungs for nearly an hour, because my neighbor knocked on my door just to ask if everything was OK. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

I guess your first goal is to make your upstairs neighbor stop stomping on your ceiling like a buffalo in heat. Depending how it goes, your second goal might be to move out.

🫂 I spent 5 years in this particular circle of hell. If you have any health and safety agencies you can get them to test if the noise is above the legal allowed limit? I know in the UK that if an upstairs property has hard floors you can complain to the Environment Agency and they can take the neighbour to court to force them to put sound proofing and carpet down. I don't know if you have any such laws but if you don't then I can only recommend seeing if you can move to a single story or top floor property. It's beyond heavenly having just a roof and the sky above you and you'll never be comfortable with living under people ever again. Even just everyday, quiet living noise will chew on your nerves for years to come. Unless you've been there, people don't realise just how badly it effects you. 🫂
