Today, I told my mother I got engaged. Her reply was a great heaving sigh, followed by ,"OK… So how's work going?" She showed more excitement last week when my brother managed to properly make Kraft macaroni. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. I excitedly called my mom to tell her the great news, thinking she'd be excited too. Her only response? "Oh." FML
Today, my mother excitedly jumped up and down, announcing that one of her sweet younger coworkers got engaged. I wished she'd had the same reaction to my engagement when I announced it to her a few days earlier. FML
Good for you
Today, I got my first big promotion at work. Excited, I shared the news with my parents. My mom responded with, "That’s nice, dear, but your sister just got engaged," and hung up to go back to celebrating with her. FML
Today, I called my mother to tell her that I got engaged. In the 15 minute conversation that followed, 13 were spent listening to how this is going to affect her. FML
Today, I got engaged. I called my mom and told her. "You didn't say yes, did you?" she said. Afterwards, I told my dad. "Uh, Congratulations. But, I have questions." Thanks guys. FML
Never enough, never
Today, I got promoted at work and was excited to tell my mom. When I called her, she immediately asked, “What does this mean for my retirement fund?” and then asked how much I was going to be making. I told her, and she responded, “Oh. That’s nice, but when are you getting a real job?” FML
Really? In 2022?
Today, I was busy going over wedding plans with my fiancé, when my mother called. Apparently, she wants me to "drop the joke" about this "fake engagement", because she was under the impression I was only dating a white guy to piss her and dad off, and was now getting carried away with it. FML
First!
Today, I announced my engagement. My mother's response was to freak out and demand that I postpone my wedding indefinitely. Why? My younger sister caught the bouquet at a wedding last year, so "she has to get married first!" My sister has been single for 3 years and showers once a week. FML
Congrats!
Today, I was working as a caterer at a wedding when I congratulated the bride’s mom, saying, "You must be so proud of your daughter!" She responded, "I’m the bride." FML
WTF?
Today, I went to my fiancé's mother's funeral. His step-sister proudly announced that she's pregnant with his baby and they are engaged. FML

Look, if your brother can master the difficult art of Kraft Mac n Cheese, your mom has access to tasty, cheap calories for life. What does your fiancé bring to the table?

Well, hopefully she'll come around eventually. But congratulations on the engagement OP!

I find passive aggressive people so very irritating and useless. If she has a good reason to think you're engagement is a bad idea, she should just say so. If she doesn't have a good reason, she should just congratulate you and knock off the sighing and eye-rolling. If someone is old enough to have adult children, they're way passed the point where they should've learned to be an adult.

Since your mom is impressed with food talent, see if your fiancé posses such skills. if he does show it to your mom then she'll be butter in your fiancé.

hate to say it, but she probably just doesn't like your fiance. there are two things you can do with this information. you can ignore it and continue on, or you can find out why. I've known a lot of people whose lives would be better today if they had listened to their family when they didn't like the s/o.

Well, can your fiance make macaroni?
Earl_KarmasBitch 36
Making macaroni takes more effort and is easier to screw up than simply saying yes to a question.
