What word was it?

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was verbally abused by a tourist because neither I nor anyone else in my country can speak "proper English". We're in England - clue's in the name, dipshit. FML
Today, I was at the airport trying to help a man get to the right terminal. When he finished he turned to tell me "Don't worry, your English is pretty good, considering you're not American". English is my only language. FML
Today, a four-year-old said a word that I didn't know the meaning of. I had to look up the definition. FML
Today, while on a vacation, I tried to step out of myself and flirt with this boy who I thought was cute. He was going along with it and nodding so I thought it was working. Then he opened his mouth and I realized he didn't speak English. FML
Today, I was at a restaurant and confidently ordered in what I thought was fluent French. The waiter stared at me for a second, then responded in perfect English, "Dude, this is an Italian restaurant." FML
Today, my English teacher kicked me out of class for being "rude and disruptive." In actuality, I had called her out for having blatantly used Google Translate for several example sentences, all of which sounded as if a semi-literate foreigner had constructed them. FML
Today, I pronounced FAQ as 'fuck' to my boss. I'm not a native speaker. FML
Today, I was instructed by my boss to welcome the 2 new foreign business partners since I am the only one who could speak their language. When they arrived I greeted them in their language. One of them scratched his head and asked his companion in plain and clear English, "What did he say?" FML
Today, I bumped into my English teacher at an AA meeting. FML
Today, two American guys attacked me for not speaking their language. I'm from England, and they said I'm speaking my own language wrong. FML

Well now I have to ask, what was the word? I’m hoping it’s a good one, like “defenestration” or “exsanguinated”..

Depends a bit on the word but… so what? You don’t need to know every word of English to know the language.

on time I was doing Spanish homework that included a Spanish to English section that used a word for "wave" (like ocean wave) that I've never heard before. I looked it up and it was an archaic word that I've never seen again. chalk it up to where they learned something not them necessarily knowing more English than you. also who cares
