Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my four year-old daughter asked me what the word “necrophilia” means. I have no idea where she even heard that. FML
Today, I heard my son use the word "exacerbated". I had to look it up to see if he had correctly used it, which he had, because I couldn't remember what it meant. I'll be 23 next week. He's not even 4. FML
Today, a tourist from an English-as-second-language country taught me a new word. In English. FML
Today, my 4 year-old daughter's favorite expression became "shit balls." FML
Today, at work I put myself squarely in the lame / old people category when I foolishly asked out loud what FML meant. FML
Today, a 4 year-old saw me and started crying and screaming like heck. I mean, I knew that I didn't look good, but this is too much. FML
Today, I had to use a dictionary before I realized I was being flirted with. FML
Today, my four year-old very loudly asked me if the little person she saw at the shops was like that because he didn't eat his vegetables. He definitely heard. FML
Today, my four-year-old daughter called me by her mom's new boyfriend's name. Three different times. FML
Today, my 3-year-old son said to me, "Fuck a duck, Daddy." I have no idea where he heard this. FML

#8, I do believe that it's vapid, not fapid. :)
padlarf 14
I see what you did there, 9. Well played.
botanistjessica 24
"I see what you did there" is almost as godawful as "that's shitty."
padlarf 14
Really? And how is 'cry me a river' ? :P
duckiegirl21 10
Grease is the word.
Codezlol 21
8 just meant a cross definition of fapping and vapid. And such a dull lifeless fapping it was.
CaptTeemo 10
I wish I knew what the word was, to see if it was actually a real word.
Charleybelle 14
I am also very curious!
barbsillvy 10
It happens to me all the time!
SmallBean 12
That's pretty sad that 4 year olds consistently show you up with grammar.
klutz44 28
13 - I think you mean a large vocabulary.
Trix_Disorder 20
I always find it strange when people brag about their own stupidity (assuming they are being serious).
igive 29
Child prodigy? Or your vocabulary isn't that extensive.
94yhy 8
Dumb this down for OP. They aren't gonna get what "prodigy", "vocabulary", or "extensive" mean.
MistressCaitlyn 7
Not either, necessarily. Parents around here teach their young children all kinds of obscure words so they can have their kids show off. It's pretty ridiculous. Some kids also pick up random words from TV - my daughter was telling everyone what a proboscis was when she was about 4, because she saw it on Magic School Bus. She's not a prodigy, just very observant and has a good memory.

It's okay, I still don't know why bandz will make her dance.
allard 14
Oh... Wait.. No... Oh.. I see.. Hang on.... If I tilt my head this.. No.. Hold up.. Uh... Nope, I still have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
PlaySpades 21
He's referencing a Juicy J song I think, and I only know that because Jenna marbles mentioned it in her last video.
rockstar362 8
The juicy j song "bandz make her dance" is saying bands( as in rubber bands around stacks of money) will make a girl dance (and more). How that has anything to do with this FML is beyond me
brackaman 18
Is that what that song is saying? I thought it was vans like the clothing brand. Didn't really listen to the song

Hippopotomonstrosusquippedaliophobia, anyone?
ManInTheMachine 20
55-Fear of long words. The irony is what makes it my favorite phobia.
perdix 31
#42, one syllable at a time. My dad taught me that word when I was in about third-grade and I freaked people out using it. It's coal miners' black lung disease.
Schizomaniac 24
17, so it is then! And here I was proud of myself for remembering such a long, ridiculous word.
PussyPredator 6
65, You only forgot the part that means lung, no big deal.
Tigerblossom 19
That was one of my spelling words in fourth grade. I loved impressing adults by spelling it. At least in this story it seems the child is pretty smart. A new hope for the next generation?
MattChristensen 14
Ah, yes. The fear of long words.
kakarot2 11
I'm so curious now... This should be one of those times where OP shows up and clears things up for the community.
A7XCamaro 19
Unfortunately, judging by the name, OP probably won't be showing up.
peppermintpink 11
walkingdictionary NOT....
MariJ82 14
Don't feel bad...It was probably something he/she heard from their three-year-old sibling.....
itsallbullshit 4
Zie probably learned it on one of those kid's shows. You aren't stupid, zie will probably forget it if zie doesn't
Sir_ND_Pity 35
You messed up on long division and now this, OP? For shame!
