Unreasonable demands
Today, I left messages in every neighbors' mailbox telling them to please be quiet at 2, as my daughter was getting married in my backyard. At 2:01 someone started practicing the drums in their garage. FML

Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I sleep during the day because I work nights. My neighbors have a very loud wedding and reception in their backyard including a live mariachi band. FML
Today, the neighbors' kid got a new airhorn. FML
Today, I practiced my wedding vows in front of the mirror we have in the hallway. When I was done, I heard clapping from my living room. Turns out my fiancé’s parents had come over early for dinner and had heard everything. FML
Today, I was blaring the radio to drown out the sound of the kids in the apartment upstairs. They then started jumping in time with the music. FML
Today, the people living below me have been blasting their music so loudly that I can hear every word as clear as day. The people next door think it's my music and feel the need to bang on the wall and blast their music just as loudly in revenge. I have two very important exams tomorrow. FML
Today, my neighbour threw a bucket of muddy water over the fence at us because he said we’d been noisy since 5 a.m., and he was sick of it. We were noisy getting ready for my wedding. The water hit me and all my bridesmaids in our dresses, since we were ready and waiting to get in the limo. FML
Today, my very very loud upstairs neighbor's children got ahold of athletic whistles. FML
Today, I can't any peace and quiet in any room of my flat. The neighbours on one side are arguing, the other side are having very loud sex, the ones upstairs I suspect are playing some sort of games console, and downstairs daughter has been practising her violin badly all morning. FML
Today, and all day, I was forced to listen to one of the kids in my apartment building play their recorder loudly and horribly. She started over whenever she missed a note. I was sick, was getting a migraine from it, and couldn't ask her to stop without her mom yelling at me. FML
Today, I was singing while unloading my dishwasher. I heard a knock on the door and went to answer it only to find the police telling me they received noise complaints from my neighbors. I live next-door to my parents. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

When my neighbor had a wedding in their backyard, he came over and invited me and other neighbors to the wedding, and asked if we could refrain from doing things for about half an hour from a certain time. This was weeks in advance. Guess what, every single neighbor who didn’t go, also did not mow their lawn, cook out on their grills, jump in pools, etc. Why? Because he was considerate and didn’t wait until the day of to inform neighbors. Consideration is a two way street

I would have definitely knocked on doors and had personal conversations. maybe not the day of the wedding either. he was an asshole, sure. but you didn’t exactly ask either, you just told them to be quiet in a non personal note. he owed you nothing.

You're not entitled to anything and the world owes you nothing. Deal with it.

Did you ask or did you tell them to be quiet? If it's the latter you totally deserved it, although your daughter probably didn't.

also, mailboxes are federally protected. The only thing that is allowed to be put in them is mail that is placed by a postal worker. You are not legally allowed to access or touch their mailbox. https://mccartylaw.com/2019/03/make-a-federal-case-out-of-it/#:~:text=While%20many%20people%20don't,may%20be%20placed%20in%20mailboxes.

And who are you to demand this of your neighbors? Either politely warn them in advance (with an equally polite reason why they weren't invited), or don't say anything at all. Chances were Tom Petty would have probably left his drums and streamed whatever is currently popular on Netflix had you kept quiet.
