Today, despite over 100 colleagues agreeing to attend a protest over our working conditions, no one turned up because they were too afraid of losing their jobs. Since I was alone, I was sacked on the spot and physically thrown out. FML

Today, after 8 months of being belittled and treated like trash at my job as a prep cook in a high-end kitchen, I stood up for myself to the line cooks. Not only did everyone laugh at me, I got fired for causing a scene during service and insubordination. FML
Today, I was fired from my job because I, in my boss's words, "Abided by company policy to such an extent that customers were starting to hate me." FML
Today, I resigned from my dream job with a small company. In the 6 weeks I worked there, a fist-fight occurred, the police were called 4 times, a person was fired for lying on important documents, and I was yelled or heckled for my ideas everyday. Now I'm jobless and worried, but had the first good night's sleep in 6 weeks. FML
Today, after a long couple of months working non-stop, I finally got someone to cover my shift. Turns out she was joking, and when I didn't show up for work, I was fired. FML
Today, after working for over a decade at the same place, I was formally written up with two days of leave without pay for refusing to work extra overtime. I've been working over 80 hours a week for four months now and even cancelled some very important plans so I could work every day. FML

I am sorry you got stuck like this. I have seen things like this before. Most people are only too happy to say how much they dislike their boss or job or even pastor or things about them when they are just talking among themselves. But just bring in the actual person and they suddenly all fall silent. Trust what people actually do, not what they say they will do. If they have never spoken up in the face of authority before, they won’t do it later no matter what they say. On the good side, you showed just who actually has the guts and who is a wimp. On the bad side, you got fired.

I guess they were all smarter than you. Their fear was not irrational. Do you really want to work in a place ruled by terror? Everyone knows the conditions are terrible, yet everyone is paralyzed by fear, except the crazy one: you.
