Ungrateful
Today, my teenage daughter insisted it was my job to take down the tray full of empty dishes, because I was the one who had carried it upstairs. Sound logic, so far. Why had I carried the tray upstairs? To serve her breakfast in bed. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I got a very accusatory phone call from my daughter's teacher. According to my daughter, I absolutely refuse to let her eat in the morning. In reality, I told her it’s her responsibility to get herself up and get breakfast on her own before we leave. My daughter is 17 years old. FML
Today, my 17-year-old daughter didn't do the laundry. Her excuse? "If it was meant to be done, it would have done itself." This is the same daughter who yesterday tried convincing me she was responsible enough to get a dog. FML
Today, I woke up and headed downstairs ready to do the dishes, when my mom hissed at me to, “go do the dishes!” As I was washing them, my mom stood over me the whole time. She eventually said, “You know, it’s pretty fucking sad that I still have to tell you to do these things.” FML
Today, I have to cook for her if I don’t want her to live on sweets, remind her to actually eat her food before it goes bad, then clean and put away her dishes. When I ask her to help, she complains that she "can never do it right anyway." My teenage daughter? No, my mom, age 62. FML
Today, my daughter had an anxiety attack. Why? Because I told her she needs to be making her bed every day. FML
Today, my daughter asked me if I could have the kids overnight, even though I’d babysat all day, all because she just got home and was too tired to make the drive to pick them up. She only lives two minutes away. I can see her house from my bathroom window. FML
Today, I washed all the dishes that had been piling in the sink over the week, and set them in the drying rack before I left for school. I came home to see that my dad’s girlfriend had put them back into the sink, along with her dirty dishes. She told me to re-wash them. Why? “They didn’t smell clean.” FML
Today, I realized how lazy my daughter truly is when I saw her shivering under a thin blanket on top of her perfectly made bed. I asked why she didn’t just climb under her covers to sleep warm and comfortable. She said that this way she doesn’t have to make up her bed every morning. FML
Today, it was my turn to do the dishes. My lazy dad just leaves his dishes in the sink without even wiping or rinsing them out, and it's been going on for weeks. When I confronted him about it, he gave a childish huff and said, "Well, next time, YOU make me breakfast!" He's unemployed and never does the dishes. FML
Today, my mom asked my siblings and me for help cleaning the kitchen. After working for a half hour while all my siblings sat on the couch, I pointed out that I was the only one working. My mom thanked my siblings for not having attitudes like mine and sent me to my room. FML

Make that self-entitled asshat of a daughter carry them down, or drop them on her bed. You did something nice, and she threw it back in your face. If you caved in, you can only blame yourself for the monster you raised willingly that you unleashed on the world. YOU are the reason karens exist. And you are to blame for making her into a karen. If she’s making this argument, it’s obviously not the first time you’ve fostered the attitude, so congrats, over time, you’ve been raising a karen. YDI

So you raise your daughter to be an ungrateful little twat?

Sorry, but I don't see any way you're not partially to blame here. If you did it as a surprise, like for her birthday, then it's only fair you clean up since you were initially responsible for allowing her to make a mess. If she asked you to make her breakfast in bed, and refused to clean up after, then it's on you to put your foot down as the parent, make her clean up, and deny any such luxuries in the future in order to put a stop to her spoiled bratty behavior. I will say she was lucky you made it for her if she asked. If I'd ever asked my parents for breakfast in bed when I lived with them, they would have pointed to my door and said "Kitchen's that way".

Why exactly are you making her breakfast in bed? She doesn't seem like she deserves it tbh. I hope you left it there. Don't make her breakfast again. Honestly, just don't make her any breakfast. She's a teen. She's old enough to start.

It may be time to stop bringing her food and have her go TO the food.

You sacrifice for your kids and there's that ungrateful spoiled brat that's got to make you regret doing anyone a favor. Don't let her take advantage of you.
