Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I realized how lazy my daughter truly is when I saw her shivering under a thin blanket on top of her perfectly made bed. I asked why she didn’t just climb under her covers to sleep warm and comfortable. She said that this way she doesn’t have to make up her bed every morning. FML
Today, I noticed my daughter’s bathroom was dusty, so I screamed at her for keeping the bathroom in unacceptable condition. She had a panic attack and has been crying for the past week. She’s 24. FML
Today, my daughter told me she would rather hang herself than hang out with me. All I did was remind her to go to bed at a reasonable time to get some sleep for an activity she likes doing. FML
Today, my daughter didn't clean the bathroom today, even though I told her yesterday that she needed to do it. She claims she forgot, because, she’s "slept since then.” FML
Today, I bought my daughter a bunk bed. After spending several hours building it, she climbed up, then fainted. Turns out she's afraid of heights. FML
Today, after my girlfriend had a nightmare this morning, I stayed home because she has really bad anxiety issues. A couple of hours later, she's pissed because I said I would stay up, but I fell asleep. FML
Today, my teenage daughter insisted it was my job to take down the tray full of empty dishes, because I was the one who had carried it upstairs. Sound logic, so far. Why had I carried the tray upstairs? To serve her breakfast in bed. FML
Today, like nearly every morning, I got yelled at by a relative because I got up late. Nearly every night, I lie in bed with anxiety attacks because of her daily insults. I get up late to avoid her, but she decided that I sleep great, which makes her angry. She also gets angry if I get up earlier than her. FML
Today, my daughter spent three hours crying and having a temper tantrum over being forced to have a bath after four days without one. My daughter is 16. FML
Today, I was staying at a hotel and had a night terror. I woke up, yelled, "Fuck!" and realized I had shit the bed. I'd woken up my teenage daughter, who now knows I shit the bed in the middle night. FML

I know you aren't looking for advice on FML, but I urge (after emotions have calmed) discussing the anxiety attack with your daughter. Making the bed isn't going to be the cause of anxiety, just the trigger. I'm sure her emotional response was a result of something else that has been bothering her, probably for an extended period of time, that she's been burying. Emotional overreactions to small stimuli are a result of prolonged stress that almost never have anything to do with what triggered it. I would caution against punishing her for having a bad reaction over what on the surface looks like something dumb and irrational without first exploring if there's a deeper reason behind the emotion.

How is she protected from rape?

Bed bugs are less likely to live in unmade beds. Her anxiety is warranted.

Her anxiety attack is a rebellion to an idiotic act of futility. You make the bed, just to unmake it a few hours later. Is her name Sisyphus? Then why punish her likewise?!?!

Tell her she needs to grow the **** up. At least she doesn't have to fend for her life or avoid being raped. Try that for anxiety....

Open the video in your camera and tell her to do a load of towels!

Tell her to do what is expected of her and stop the freaking attention seeking hysterics or she can find somewhere else to sleep!

Making the bed is an entirely futile chore (unless you sleep in the living room). it's true that bed bugs are less likely to move in when your bed is left a mess. And you shut your bedroom door so nobody sees the mess. Save your energy for getting her to clean up mess in shared living space rather than in her own bedroom. And help her to learn to keep her anxiety under control because it's true that there's a whole more to worry about in life. If you can learn a sense of perspective (ie stop hassling her over futile chores), maybe she will be able to do so too and keep a cap on that anxiety
