Today, my fiancé and I met his mother for lunch to discuss wedding plans. When we got there, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I heard a woman talking on her cell phone in the stall about her son's "disgusting, slutty girlfriend." The toilet flushed and my future mother-in-law walked out. FML
Today, during my wedding ceremony, the groom-to-be found it appropriate to blurt out about an ongoing affair with my maid of honor. They got married instead. FML
Today, my wife had a nip-slip. At my family reunion. In front of everyone. FML
Today, I was at an awards dinner. I whispered into my wife's ear that she looked really pretty. She whispered in my ear that I should stop clapping so loud, because I was embarrassing her. FML
Today, I was having lunch with my fiancé's family. After he excused himself to use the bathroom, his grandmother glared at me, sneered, "I never liked you" and kept eating while the others smirked. When my fiancé returned, everyone pretended nothing had happened. FML
Today, I practiced my wedding vows in front of the mirror we have in the hallway. When I was done, I heard clapping from my living room. Turns out my fiancé’s parents had come over early for dinner and had heard everything. FML
Today, my wife made me go with her to dinner with her parents, despite their long-standing hatred of me. Later on, my mother-in-law muttered to me, "I made yours special for ya", smirked, then made a show of scratching at her butt-crack. FML
Today, it was my wedding day. When my soon-to-be-husband was saying his vows, he didn't say my name. He said his mother's. FML
Today, I overheard my 5 year old daughter call a girl in her dance class a slut. Shocked, I asked her where she heard that word. Her response: "I heard you and Daddy say it about her Mommy." FML

Good. The best way to treat those who are inconsiderate and insulting is to simply ignore them. They don't get the satisfaction of creating a scene or receiving the attention they so desperately desire.

Even if she was upset to be giving up her son, she should not have muttered that word in front of your family and friends. That it is utterly disrespectful and immature. If she has a problem with you, she should have taken it up work you on your own time.

You could always go up to her later and say "I appreciate your comment during the ceremony so much, my goal was to be exactly like you when you were my age, and your comment validated it. Now my goal is to be as much of a bitch as you are when I'm old and wrinkled like you. Then give her a hug and walk away. Haha sorry this happened OP.
