Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my wife and I went shopping for new glasses at a local store, but we didn't really get to actually buying one. On our way back, she warned me that my glasses of choice should in no way be 'those big arty ones'. When I asked her why not, she told me that I 'look gay enough already'. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were cuddling in bed. After looking at me for a while he said, "you look better when I'm not wearing my contacts". FML
Today, my boyfriend gushed for several minutes about how amazing it is that I suddenly look hot when he takes his glasses off. FML
Today, I went with my boyfriend to the optometrist for him to buy contact lenses for the first time. He said the detail was much better than glasses. I excitedly asked him if he could see my freckles better now, and after a long and disappointed look at my face, he said "Nope, just more acne." FML
Today, my boyfriend bitched me out for being too controlling. Apparently, not only am I being unreasonable by not wanting him visiting strip clubs with his friends, I'm also just "looking for excuses to get mad" at him. FML
Today, my boyfriend spent an hour lecturing me on how I need to ask for what I want. So I asked him to delete a crappy picture he'd taken of me the night before. His response: "No, you don't always get what you want." FML
Today, I had an argument with my boyfriend who was accusing me of only being in a relationship with him because I'd fantasised about being with an Asian. When I told him he was wrong, he asked me what attracted me to him in the first place. "Your eyes" was definitely the wrong answer. FML
Today, my boyfriend of over a year looked at me and said, "Sometimes I just want to hit you." FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted me to get him some take out. He responded with, "I think we should see other people. Uh, chicken please." FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he'd drive me to the jeweler's to pick out a ring. We drove there, I picked the ring, and the sales person rang it up. I glanced at my boyfriend, only for him to reply, "Well don't look at me!" FML

He sounds controlling. If I ever had a partner who told me i couldn't wear my glasses I would probably break up with them. Someone who is controlling and won't let you see properly isn't someone you would want in your life.

"Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses."

Depends if they have that sexy librarian vibe?
RichardPencil 32
Actually, that's just an old quote. I like girls with glasses. I'm a nerd!

Look at the gender icon in the upper left corner of the OP! OP is a gay man.
RichardPencil 32
Don't always trust the gender icon. If the OP doesn't bother to specify, it defaults to male, I think.

So?
RichardPencil 32
It means the crazy jealous bf should be for the OP getting glasses as they are a repellent to predators.

I guess he wouldn't mind doing all the chores, then, since you can't see the dirt.

Um, last I checked you are a person and if you are over 18, go get your damned glasses.

I think contacts is a fair compromise?
Vesi 30
Absolutely NOT! No-one should have to compromise their health for someone else. Some people cannot wear contacts and she should not have to make herself uncomfortable because he's so insecure (or cheating, himself).

This sounds like domestic abuse. He's trying to control OP and her finances and health and well-being, and if she tries to say anything he becomes accusatory, and may even be gaslighting her, equating her desire for medically necessary corrective lenses with cheating. Get help and get out!

Even a blind person can see your boyfriend is a control freak. Get out while you still can. Domestic abuse, and the fear of it happening, are acceptable reasons to leave during this lockdown.

Yea, I would breakup with him. He’s toxic.

Apparently the other thing you can't see is all the red flags with this relationship. There's too darn many - I'd start looking for the exit!
