Today, I learned that Discord will require age verification to access adult servers starting in a month. I'm 12 and about to lose access to 90% of my social life for six years. FML

Today, I woke up to find myself permanently banned from Discord for “minimum age requirements.” I’m 20. Yesterday, someone on Discord DM’d me asking me how many eggs were in a dozen and I answered by saying 12, and the next day my account is banned. Discord will not reinstate my account, even after appealing the ban. FML
Today, no one in my circle of friends cares about Discord's privacy violations except me. I've explained it to all of them, but they're only worried about whether they personally have to send in ID verification, not about the fact that their user information will be collected and stored regardless! FML
Today, I made a Discord account for the first time and got banned, even though I hadn't even logged in. Like, how is that possible? FML
Today, my dad learned how to use the parental controls. I now have an 11 o'clock curfew. I am 17. FML
Today, I was playing FarmTown and got into a fight with a 14 year old boy. I threatened him with physical violence, and he reported me. I'm 23 years old and got banned from a virtual farming game for threatening children. FML
Today, despite the fact that I'm 20 years-old, my parents never allow me to go out and have fun with my friends, under the pretext that I'm a girl. I'm stuck at house all year long, I only go out to the college they forced me to study at, and they decide everything about me. I’m tired. FML
Today, I started to fill out a job application online, with age being one of the first things I put in. After half an hour and 40 questions, I hit submit. I was then told that I wasn't old enough to apply. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I decided to be responsible and put parental controls on the Playstation so our kids can't play adult games or watch adult content online. And now, neither can we. FML
Today, I tried buying a video game that was rated "M - for mature". The Cashier told me "you have to be 17 to buy this game". I didn't have any ID on me. I'm 25. FML
Today, I turned 18 and I’m now subject to adult discipline. My dad says I will no longer be grounded or have my phone taken away, but I have three strikes and if I get to three, he’s throwing me out to get my own house. He then gave me my first strike because I was 30 minutes late picking up my nana. FML

The good news for you is that they walked it back.. but if you're only 12, should you be connecting to adult servers? Are you trying to access age-restricted content in the first place?

Don't feel bad, kid. 12-year-olds are idiots. Wait until you're 18. Then realise 18-year-olds are idiots too and become a recluse.

Not entirely fair... some people have social anxiety or may be neurospicy (ASD, ADHD, etc) and may find it difficult or impossible to make friends in the real world.

We are social animals and regardless of social anxieties or conditions we depend on real connections with physical people to survive. Online communities may sometimes present a safe space but not always and cannot replace real world social interactions or relationships. Like I sad, it may s challenging but worth it and necessary. How did people with social anxieties and social disorders cope before the internet I wonder🤔… community help, family, friendships, chance interactions with others in similar circumstances perhaps?

Depends...some mods will probably panic and set their channel to age-restricted if their video game ever mentions the words kiss, romance, sex or whatever.
