Today, I started to fill out a job application online, with age being one of the first things I put in. After half an hour and 40 questions, I hit submit. I was then told that I wasn't old enough to apply. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I spent two hours filling out an online application and questionnaire for a potential employer. The application stated that there were no right or wrong answers and to answer truthfully. I was automatically rejected. FML
Nice try old man
Today, I submitted my application to a restaurant as a server. The manager, who is more than 30 years older than me, said he'd be calling me. He later texted me asking for a date instead of giving me a job. FML
Today, after working at my summer job for 3 weeks, I was informed that I was too young to work there. I had contacted them 3 months prior and had given them my birthdate multiple times. I had also attended a special training in their corporate HQ, which I drove 7 hours both ways to get to. FML
Hello Goodbye
Today, I got fired from my new job on my first day. Why? Because I'm 19 and company policy says you have to be 21. But they can't ask how old you are. FML
Today, I submitted my 208th job application in less than a year, and went to my 83rd and 84th interviews, only to be told once again that I'm over-qualified for the first, and under-qualified for the second. FML
Today, I spent ages applying for a scholarship online. I found out on the very last page that I do not meet the qualifications for it. FML
Today, I filled out an online application for a internship. I didn't have all the info I need to complete it, but it wouldn't let me leave anything blank so to move along I filled in crap answers. I pressed "Save". It sent my draft in. I now have to explain that "Jesus" isn't actually my reference. FML
Useless
Today, I was forced to write a job application letter that boils down to, "I can't do this job, please don't hire me." FML
Here I go again
Today, I went to start my new job, only to find out that the guy who hired me had no permission to do so. I had to fill out another application, and complete another interview and I still might not get the damn job. FML
Today, I received a series of rejection letters from jobs, one after the other. Last night, I stayed up into the wee morning hours to apply to campus jobs I'm not qualified for, because I was classified as a part-time student due to an administrative error. FML

Ah. I once did four hours of applications, three phone interviews, and finally got to an orientation/final interview.... and they said I was too young to work there. My age was all over the paperwork, so it was just plain failure on the company's part.

They were just being polite. One of your other 39 answers turned them off and they didn’t want to hurt your feelings. It’s the business equivalent of “it’s not you, it’s me.”

Surely they should put that in the job description?

My daughter had this happen to her. I think she was applying to Applebee's. I doubt that she submitted this.

That does suck and I've totally been there but if you're kinda young (like maybe 14 or 15?) you should at least be aware beforehand of which places you have to be 16+ to work at (which is usually the minimum standard age) and which places hire 14/15+. Usually retail stores and restaurants start at 16 yrs, while fast food places tend to hire younger. Though if you're already 16, there are occasionally places that hire 18+ and usually you can tell which ones because the job either requires you to serve/sell alcohol, sell adult items, or sell undergarments (the only odd exceptions I've encountered were The Gap and The Children's Place that required 18+ which was weird..). OP not saying you're actually 14/15 or 16/17, but try to do a little bit of research beforehand if that's possible for you so you don't run into that again. Good luck!!
