Today, was teacher appreciation day at my school. They played a slideshow of all the teachers. The students cheered wildly for every teacher. When my picture came up, nobody clapped. The whole room was quiet. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, in art class, everybody was showing the paintings that we have been working on for weeks. Everyone was cheering and clapping. When mine came up, nobody clapped. FML
Today, it was my very last day teaching my dance class. After the class ended, the owner of the studio started clapping and told all my students to give me a hug. No one hugged me. No one. FML
Today, I was at a school rally I was talking to my friends when I noticed the entire gym had gotten quiet. Not knowing why I thought it would be funny to yell out "it's too quiet!" apparently it was a moment of silence for a teacher that had recently died. FML
Today, I gave a big presentation to my class. It included PowerPoint slides and video clips of the country I'd been researching. Another student did a presentation on the same country, except he just read from its Wikipedia page. He practically got a standing ovation. I got a single clap. FML
Today, our favorite teacher walked into our history class and everyone started whistling, I decided to join in by screaming, "Sexy!" The room went quiet and all heads turned to me. FML
Today, I had to present a powerpoint in front of my class. When I was finished, no one clapped. On my way back to my seat, I slipped on a pencil and fell straight on my face. That's when everyone clapped. FML
Today, I changed my teacher's PowerPoint picture to me making a funny face. He saw it and changed it to a picture of him, with a middle finger. FML
Today, I’m a high school teacher and I finally learned how to use the smartboard properly. I connected my laptop to demonstrate a lesson… and projected the last thing I had open: a half-written email complaining about how loud this exact class is. Thirty teenagers read it in silence. One kid raised his hand and said, “Fair.” FML
Today, at the elementary school where I teach, the kids all voted for their favorite teacher. I was the only one to receive zero votes. When I asked a small group of students why no one voted for me, one boy replied "because you're the ugliest". FML
Today, I went to attend my summer school class again after being out sick for a week. When I said "Here" during roll call, everyone started cheering and clapping. Apparently, my professor has been badmouthing me while I've been absent for pretending to be sick. I'm sure my grade will be fantastic. FML

I've been working with K-8 children for over four years now and I'm an aspiring teacher. I've learned that not every child is going to like you. Let the bad commentary and attitudes toughen your skin. You're a teacher so you care about the future of the youth. That alone should be appreciated by all. Keep up the great work. :) Much respect.

i just think it's kinda weird your school does anything for teacher appreciation day...none of the 5 schools i've been to have even acknowledge it was teacher appreciation day. in fact, until a couple years ago, i had no idea anything like that existed xD but anyway, that sucks, but now you've got a reason to be REALLY mean to those brats :D

It sucks when it happens to you, but there's definitely a serious reason for no one clapping. #16, my grade four teacher was definitely the nicest guy in the school, and he made everybody want to learn. He gave a damn, even more than the other grade four teacher, who was a lot like the OP. The point is, you can be just as good of an educator (or an even better one), if you're nice to your students, and positively encourage them, than if you give them tough love or push them too hard without giving positive feedback. And no one could ever say that my class learned was less prepared academically than the other class with the strict teacher.
