Today, the price I paid to go on a kayaking trip in the sea was nothing compared to the price that my foot paid when it inadvertently stepped on a sea urchin halfway into the water. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was snorkeling when a stingray suddenly appeared when I thought I was just looking at sand. It startled me, so my heel made contact with a sea urchin so that then startled me, and my other foot hit another one. FML
Today, at the beach, I swam pretty far out into the ocean. I ended up getting pummelled by the waves and got a painful cramp in my leg. The whole beach watched me flail and scream, while my friends rolled their eyes as they dragged me out of the water. FML
Today, I thought I would make my first trip to the beach. While in the water, I was stung by a jellyfish. My friend had to pee on me. I went back into the water to wash the pee off and got stung by another jellyfish. FML
Pirate move
Today, I was kayaking with my friend. We figured it'd be awesome if I jumped from my kayak straight into his. Sounded good in theory. One flipped kayak, a pair of lost glasses, and a humiliating swim back to shore later, I'm starting to think it wasn't the best idea. FML
Surf's up
Today, I finally get to go surfing! On my way out, I got a splinter that’s still way too deep to remove, causing me to cancel the surf day and now it really hurts to walk. FML
Today, I couldn't figure out what was worse: accidentally dropping my car keys into the bottom of a filthy park lake, or getting a fishhook through my toenail in an attempt to retrieve them. FML
Today, I thought it would be a smart idea to walk out on the pier while the waves were 6 feet tall. I was having fun getting "splashed" by the waves crashing over until one wave knocked me over and dragged me 20 feet across the hard concrete pier. FML
Living my best life
Today, I got to live my life's dream of going whale watching. Apparently my true life's dream was to get extremely seasick, sunburned to a crisp, and pay $60 to see only seagulls in the end. FML
Surf's Up
Today, as I was strapping my boogie board to my wrist, a wave slammed the board right into my crotch. Hard. FML
Today, while at a local river, I had been pulled underwater by a very fast and strong current. While fighting for my life, I had let go of my sandals so I could pull myself up. After explaining to my mom what had happened to me, her response was "YOU LOST YOUR SANDALS!?" FML

As a child, I accidentally stepped on a sea urchin in a shallow tide pool at the beach. Then I "accidentally" picked up a nearby stick and proceeded to turn the urchin into a sand dollar ...

Hm. Is it like stepping on a chestnut?

i'm so sorry that happened. your safety is definitely more important than that kayaking trip, though.

well you know what they say, "step on a sea urchin, pee on your feet for it"
ragnarok1540 39
That's for jellyfish stings if I recall correctly ...

Urine cleans the wound, basic knowledge when traveling.

Urine is in fact sterile (at least when it's freshly squeezed, so to speak), but it definitely doesn't have any cleaning or antibiotic properties.

Aside from just being liquid, I mean. Warm water would do the same job without going R. Kelly on your ass.

That sounds very painful but for future reference you should always wear water shoes when there are urchins in the water, as a precaution. I hope you managed to have some fun after you got your foot taken care of!

Why are you not wearing water shoes, I don't know anyone that kayaks in their bare feet? Then again I've only known two people who kayak so...

I must be an outsider then, I haven't worn water shoes yet when kayaking.
