Today, six weeks before my wedding, my mother decided to claim that she never agreed on paying for it and that she doesn't think she will. Now I have six weeks to scavenge enough cash for the wedding she planned in the first place. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, a week after my fiancé and I got engaged, his mother is already complaining that she isn't involved enough in the wedding arrangements. We haven't even set a date yet. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Just stop, please
Today, marks the sixth day in a row that my mum has called me to discuss my upcoming wedding. She's obsessed and has intimidated the actual planner I hired into going along with her plans. She's slipped up twice already and accidentally referred to it as her own wedding. Just great. FML
Control
Today, my future mother-in-law informed me that since she is putting money into our wedding, that all the planning and arrangements are under her authority. FML
Today, my wedding is scheduled for next week. Today is also the day my whole family had an epic falling out, resulting in my mother disowning my brother. Apart from having them taking turns sobbing at me through the phone, they're also not coming to the wedding. I paid the hotel rooms in advance. FML
Today, my mom and my step dad decided they're getting a divorce. They've been married for 2 weeks and I paid for a quarter of the wedding. FML
Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Thank you for your service
Today, I'm getting married. A few months ago, I allowed my mother in-law to take care of catering. She begged to be a part of the wedding, so I gave her the caterer's number and order info. It appears that I will not be eating at my own wedding because she decided to order food I'm allergic to. FML
Pipe down, Brenda
Today, my soon-to-be mother-in-law decided that she is going to be in charge of planning my wedding. All decisions must be approved by her, and anything she doesn't like will be thrown out. She also wants to go on our honeymoon with us to make sure I don't "defile" her son. FML

And that's why you should always have a backup. Try your dad.

Maybe you could make some money by installing a camera in your fiancee's shower.

Next time your mother needs money for anything besides medical care, treat her the same way.

How about the fact that some people arent stingy with their money and parents should be willing to help pay for somrthing as important as a wedding. I hate the concept of, "well you're a grown lady now, that means parents never have to help you pay for anything else in your life". Parents should always be willing to help their children, unless they cannot afford it themselves; likewise, children should honor and respect their parents and be willing to help them whenever possible as well.

You're the fifth or sixth person to make that oh-so-hilarious and original comment, so no, you really didn't have to.

I've never understood why anyone wants to spend a metric **** ton of money on a wedding anyways. Keep it small, invite those closest to you, and save your money for the honeymoon.

59- yea, I'd rather have my wedding in the lobby of a holiday inn if it meant I could go to Bora Bora afterwards.

Yeah, the honeymoon is more important. My family wants a big-ish ceremony. That's why I told my mom that if she wants something different about the wedding, she has to pay the difference because I'm going to pay for what I want in the wedding.

In her defense: traditionally, weddings are paid for by the bride's parents/family.
