Today, a week after my fiancé and I got engaged, his mother is already complaining that she isn't involved enough in the wedding arrangements. We haven't even set a date yet. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my fiancé's mother tried to arrange a marriage for him to a nice Indian girl, again. We've been engaged for a year, and the wedding is in a month. FML
Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML
Just stop, please
Today, marks the sixth day in a row that my mum has called me to discuss my upcoming wedding. She's obsessed and has intimidated the actual planner I hired into going along with her plans. She's slipped up twice already and accidentally referred to it as her own wedding. Just great. FML
Apron strings
Today, my fiancé told me he wants to buy an engagement ring for his mother, so that she doesn't feel left out. FML
Today, six weeks before my wedding, my mother decided to claim that she never agreed on paying for it and that she doesn't think she will. Now I have six weeks to scavenge enough cash for the wedding she planned in the first place. FML
Plot twist
Today, I overheard my mom talking on the phone with my sister about how much they hate my fiancé. My wedding is in two weeks and my family has been pretending to like my future husband for three years. FML
Today, my fiancé won't tell people we're engaged because his mother doesn't approve, and he doesn't want to upset her. FML
Copycat
Today, I found out that my fiancé's sister, who only got engaged a couple of months ago, is getting married before us. I wouldn't have a problem with this if she wasn't planning her wedding to be exactly like ours will be. FML
First!
Today, I announced my engagement. My mother's response was to freak out and demand that I postpone my wedding indefinitely. Why? My younger sister caught the bouquet at a wedding last year, so "she has to get married first!" My sister has been single for 3 years and showers once a week. FML
Really? In 2022?
Today, I was busy going over wedding plans with my fiancé, when my mother called. Apparently, she wants me to "drop the joke" about this "fake engagement", because she was under the impression I was only dating a white guy to piss her and dad off, and was now getting carried away with it. FML

The whole "she's just concerned" thing is BS. That type of behavior is super shitty (and way too common). She'd better cut the controlling crap now before she ruins her relationship with her DIL. Trust me, it doesn't take much. I really don't get why so many MIL's can't seem to get this concept into their brains.

DIL? MIL? Dad I like? Mother I like? Honestly, I've no idea.

Crush her with a bed, chop her into bits, and put her under the floorboards. :D

The decomposing body would start to smell which would seep into the furniture. I'd suggest taking her remains to a pig farm and mixing it up in the pigs chow. No evidence.

But the "Beating of the Heart" would drive you mad haha

"Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! -- tear up the planks! -- here, here! -- it is the beating of his hideous heart!"

This is a test for your relationship. Take it seriously. I don't suggest RUNNING like another poster, but whether your fiancé supports YOU and the new family unit the two of you are creating, or supports his mother (or refuses to get involved- even bigger red flag specifically Spineless!), his actions will tell you everything you need to know about your future. Then you can make a truly informed decision.

That's not a good sign.

I think the moment has arrived where you make it very clear that it's your wedding, not hers. Tell it, before it's too late.

Yep, this will be me in a few years :(. From what I am starting to see more and more, a lot of future mother-in-laws act like this. Stand up for yourself when the time comes, if you don't now, the rest of your marriage will be her trying to walk all over you.
