Today, six weeks before my wedding, my mother decided to claim that she never agreed on paying for it and that she doesn't think she will. Now I have six weeks to scavenge enough cash for the wedding she planned in the first place. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, a week after my fiancé and I got engaged, his mother is already complaining that she isn't involved enough in the wedding arrangements. We haven't even set a date yet. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Just stop, please
Today, marks the sixth day in a row that my mum has called me to discuss my upcoming wedding. She's obsessed and has intimidated the actual planner I hired into going along with her plans. She's slipped up twice already and accidentally referred to it as her own wedding. Just great. FML
Control
Today, my future mother-in-law informed me that since she is putting money into our wedding, that all the planning and arrangements are under her authority. FML
Today, my wedding is scheduled for next week. Today is also the day my whole family had an epic falling out, resulting in my mother disowning my brother. Apart from having them taking turns sobbing at me through the phone, they're also not coming to the wedding. I paid the hotel rooms in advance. FML
Today, my mom and my step dad decided they're getting a divorce. They've been married for 2 weeks and I paid for a quarter of the wedding. FML
Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Thank you for your service
Today, I'm getting married. A few months ago, I allowed my mother in-law to take care of catering. She begged to be a part of the wedding, so I gave her the caterer's number and order info. It appears that I will not be eating at my own wedding because she decided to order food I'm allergic to. FML
Pipe down, Brenda
Today, my soon-to-be mother-in-law decided that she is going to be in charge of planning my wedding. All decisions must be approved by her, and anything she doesn't like will be thrown out. She also wants to go on our honeymoon with us to make sure I don't "defile" her son. FML

I would uninvite her until she puts up the cash

And that's why you should always have a backup. Try your dad.

Um, most families do help with some costs though so if someone gives you their word that they're planning to pay for something, you take that and spend the money that would have been used on that on another aspect of the wedding. That's what literally ever single person I know who has ever gotten married has done. You don't expect family to flake on you a month and a half before.

My momma does that a lot. What I do is, while she is promising something/agreeing, record it on your phone. Then when she denies it, you have solid proof.

That's a good idea.

Op should force her mom to pay like she is supposed to or steal a credit card. Actually, idk who pays for the wedding.

It should be the bride's side of the family that pays for it.

It should be both sides. Why stick the whole bill on the bride when the bride isn't the only one getting married and inviting people?

I would never talk to her ever again!

I think you should still invite her, two wrongs don't make a right. Be the better person here. Downsize what you can to fit in your budget. You should always have your own backup, too. Make it small and nice, you can have tons of nice things on the cheap. If you want fancy dishes, party city or even your local 99 cent only store, or dollar tree carry nice glass dishes. Even wine glasses! Do what you want, but if you uninvite her you will regret it, especially for such a big day. I think talking this out may help.

I find that a lot of mothers plan the wedding they wanted for themselves for their daughters and while we object we do try to accommodate them at our expense. If your mother planned the entire thing and agreed to pay for it then, she should pay for it. If she can't afford the wedding she planned she should give you the money she did plan to spend and let you figure out what you can do for a wedding with that money and anything you have saved up.
