Today, my wife and I are about to move across the country when the landlord for our new house called and said a water line busted and flooded the house. The movers are coming tomorrow. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Lemons
Today, my husband and I were finally about to put our house on market because we have killed our savings on moving and two mortgages for the past couple of months. Then the pipes burst. Awesome. FML
Moving day
Today, the water stopped working in our apartment. We are supposed to be moving into a new place tomorrow, so we asked the landlord if we could move in a day early. Upon arrival, we found that the water tank needed to be installed, so there's no water here either. We are now admitting defeat and checking into a hotel. FML
Water shortage

Today, we woke up to two inches of water in our finished basement, which my wife and I use it as our bedroom. The plumber found roots in our sewer line. The kicker: we just bought the house four days ago. FML
Lemon or haunted?
Today, our boiler broke. Yesterday, it was our fridge. The day before that, the deck collapsed, and a few weeks ago the dishwasher flooded the kitchen. This is after we spent a ton of money to have the house gutted due to a mold problem. We only bought the house a year ago, and have lived in it even less. We need to move. FML
Thanks, now **** off
Today, after moving into my new house, my partner's father came to give us his old sofa. Now, an hour before he has to leave, he's half-completed 3 DIY jobs we didn't want done in the first place, and smashed my water inlet pipe. I have no water and a destroyed kitchen. FML
Today, my apartment burned to the ground. I was packed and ready to move out tomorrow. FML
Today, workers came to my house to fix residual moisture damage in my walls left behind by Hurricane Irma. Said workers then burst a water pipe and flooded my entire apartment in the time it took figure out how to turn it off. FML
Today, I came home from my aunt's funeral to find my basement flooded due to a sewer backup. FML
Like what you've done with the place
Today, I came home from work to find my house was flooded from a broken pipe under the sink. My house had just recently had new wood floors, carpet and electrics installed because 6 months earlier my house had been flooded by the same pipe breaking. FML

I'm sorry to hear that happened, but it's better than if all your belongings arrived yesterday.

...(oh yay, the app froze and I didn't get to finish), but something happened and the landlord called hours before they were on the way that they couldn't move in yet. the movers already had everything packed and refused to hold their stuff. basically, they had nowhere to put their shit. the land peoples should totally have an extra living space to accommodate for their f-ups.

So landlords should always have a backup property on the small chance that something happens to the house in the time before new tenants move in? I have 3 houses that I have been renting out for over 10 years and I have never had something happen at the last moment. And if it did, I would not be able to pull another house out of by back pocket. If they are lucky, maybe the rental agency might have another property available in the area that might be suitable for a short term until the problem is fixed.

Maybe ask the new landlord if their insurance covers tenant accommodation in the event of an emergency making the property uninhabitable? Unless I'm way, way mistaken, there should be -some- system in place to help you out. Failing that, beg and plead with your current landlord to let you stay (obviously you'll pay for the time) until the new place is inhabitable again or you find somewhere else. The movers probably won't mind a delay as long as you tell them the situation ASAP. I hope things turn out ok, OP.
