Today, my roommate wants to kick me out because I can't afford to pay my share of the rent this month. I couldn't afford to, because I had to pay for repairs to my car after my roommate got drunk, stole my keys, and crashed it into a street light. FML

Today, I learned that repairing my car will cost more than it's worth. I'm barely making it paycheck to paycheck and I had to sleep in that car several nights this week after getting thrown out of my sister's house. Now I need a room AND a car. FML
Today, I told my roommate she had to pay $55 to replace a piece of the oven she broke. She told me I was being selfish and decided to illegally break our lease because I was, "making her feel unsafe." Now I not only have to pay for the oven repair, I also have to pay her next two month's rent. FML
Today, one of my roommates blew a fuse by running a personal heater on full overnight. I notified our landlady that I had to get a new fuse; she came over to pay me for it. Only as I heard landlady's horn did I see another roommate's girlfriend's car; she stayed overnight and isn't allowed to. Both roomies got evicted and blamed me. FML
Today, my second roommate in less then a week got a DUI. Both roommates are demanding that I drive them around for free until they get their licenses back, or else they won't have the funds to pay their rent. FML
Today, I found out my roomie has lost her only source of income. This means I'm responsible for all the bills and the rent. I would kick her out and get someone else, but she's my mother. FML
Today, I came home to found all of my belongings out on the street. My roommate, who is also my brother, apparantly neglected to pay his part of the rent, and we got evicted. FML
Today, I spent my remaining cash on a doctor's visit, only to find out that at the age of 22, I'm getting major health problems brought on by stress. I came home to relax, only to find out my roommate can't pay his rent, and needs me to cover for him so we don't get evicted. FML
Tonday, I spent the night in my car because I didn’t want to go home as I just gave my roommate a 30-day eviction notice. My girlfriend is spending the night at a friend's, and I’m too cheap to get a hotel room. FML
Today, my roommate and I had to pay our first installment of rent. He's nowhere to be found. FML
Today, my roommate expected me to help them buy them car, or loan them some money. FML

Not entirely sure how the cops weren't called if he crashed into a street light.. And if they were how is his insurance not paying it? If he doesn't have insurance.. Umm you should have a police report and more than enough cause/proof to sue his ass for the cost of repairs! YDI for not taking the proper action and letting him, probably, bully, or manipulate, you into paying for something you can't be held accountable for. Also, get new friends, sounds like he's a total dick!

I totally agree that OP should take some legal action but even if his roommate had insurance, he wouldn't be insured to drive his roommates car, especially not while under the influence. They wouldn't cover any of that.

@67 welp, I'm not an insurance expert, so if I'm wrong I apologize, but I believe it would have to be paid out under liability, but like I said I'm not sure! Haha. Either way he can get his car paid by his roommate, whether it's by his insurance or by suing him!
